"Liver" received a phone call last evening from one of his sisters that his mother was not doing well. He called her and talked with her for a little bit. She was telling him that her legs and feet were swollen, she had something similar to water blisters on her legs, and that she was not having a good urine flow. He adviced her then to go on to the ER but she said that she was going to wait until this morning (Sunday). At noon time we found out that she was in the ER. The doctors were still running tests on her.....congestive heart failure and renal shutdown were 2 things mentioned. We are waiting for the results now. adair |

Liver's mother is now in ICU. She is stable we are told. The doctors wanted her placed in ICU so that they could monitor her closely because of heart medications that they have put her on. She has atrial fibrillation and a swollen liver. Besides the heart meds, the doctors have put her on Lasix. The sister that Jean (the mother) was staying with should have more news for us tomorrow. Thank you all for your prayers. Liver is really concerned about his mother but at the same time does not want to have to go there with my surgery just around the corner. I have told him that if he needs to go to his family that I will manage fine but I do not think he believes me. adair |

Adair, I'm sorry to hear about Liver's Mom. I'm with Liver though on this one. I know its a tough situation to be in but his Mom has other family members around her if I remember right and YOU do need him with you, you know you do. I know you are nervous over all of this. Hang in there. Angelbear |

just an overall update. Liver's mother was started on coumadin yesterday. After having the tests and an ultrasound, it was discovered that she has blood clots in her heart and in her lungs. She will be kept in ICU for monitoring purposes for another week to two weeks; depending on how fast the coumadin starts working and the clots start dissolving. So, now it is a matter of wait and see with how she responds to the medications before the doctors will decide what they will do with her next. We are figuring that the doctors may want to put her into some rehab for a little bit but not sure. It looks like Liver and I will be heading out to San Francisco on the 23rd so that I can have my pre-op on the 24th. Liver will go out with me but he will return on the 25th for a few days before coming back out for the surgery. I need to stay in San Fran so that I can be videotaped on the 28th by the neuro team. They like to have a before and after tape for comparison. If all the pre-op stuff goes well, then the surgery will be on the 31st and maybe I will be released somewhere between April 5-7. adair |

Hopefully the coumadin will take care of things, time will tell. The video will be of you walking and showing your mobility with your neck as well? That will be good to see, the before and after. Did you ever get a laptop to use while you're gone? I know you wanted to find one. Have you got everything else you needed clothes and all? The 23rd will be here before you know it. |

I am hoping that the coumadin works for Liver's mother also. Liver called me this evening quickly - he was going to be talking to at least one of his sisters and will call me in the morning with any new info. Yes, the videotaping is to show the "before and after" of the surgery. I was just videotaped in January but guess they want a more recent one. On the January taping, it was of me writing, doing the touch your nose, touch my finger, walk on your toes, walk on your heels, touch your toes, and numerous other things. The touch your toes was a new movement for them to have me even do....they have decided that because of the contortion of the neck it is effecting my spine a little bit. As far as a laptop........"Tank" told me that I could take his with me but I will wait until he is home this weekend and talk to me more to make sure. Otherwise I think I will see what Rent-A-Center will charge me. adair |

Adair, I'm so glad to hear the new update on Liver's mom. Hopefully the medication they have her on now will do the trick. I know that the timing of this is not great, but I believe that there's a reason for everything. Take care of yourself and please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Darc |

She is doing well. Thanks for asking Angelbear. She is still staying with the oldest daughter in Arkansas. The daughter makes her walk up and down the hall for physical therapy. Jean was really pleased the last time we talked with her; she managed to walk the hallway (without her walker or cane) the other morning 6 times. adair |
