When I needed to talk,
wanted to get it of my chest
pour my heart out and be at peace

When I needed a hug
a closeness of our bodies
to feel as though I belonged
Where were you?
When I just needed to cry
someone to dry my eyes for me
to feel comforted and protected
Where were you?
When I sat at home all alone
wondered what you were doing
cried myself to sleep again and again

When I stood up tall
made myself start over again
dried my eyes and blew my nose

When I look back and see
all the times you weren't there
I still wonder even now
