Tessa took her sweet time making her way to the Temple gardens. When she reached the area where the Temple had stood, she stared again in shock at the wreckage of what was left. It was hard to believe that such a beautiful, sturdy building like the Alliance of the Faiths Temple had been leveled so completely. But it had been, and the lovely blonde woman slowly walked around the rubble, shaking her head in disbelief.

She found her way back to the gardens behind the Temple, where she had met Kaiyel, the centaur, and where she knew her Silenni friend, Hi'el made his camp. To her utter astonishment, his camp had been broken down and the Shadoweir was nowhere to be found. Tessa looked around in bewilderment, not understanding why Hi'el wouldn't be there. He wouldn't have left without me, surely? she thought with an incredulous frown. Nonetheless, there was no sign of him. His things were gone, too, a sure indication that he wouldn't be returning any time soon. Tessa sighed and crossed her arms unhappily, stomping a foot in anger. "That...that...I can't believe he's gone!" she fumed out loud, to herself. She stormed back to the Temple, looking around for someone who might be tending things, but it seemed that all of the acolytes were missing, too. I don't even know which way he was headed, she thought miserably. It was an obvious wrench in her plans to get out of town for awhile and still be relatively safe from brigands and monsters and such. I'll just have to...hire a tracker...or something.

The noble-woman pulled her coin bag from inside her dress and woefully counted the meager funds that remained. She had no idea how much it would cost to hire someone to help her find the Silenni, but figured the only way to find out was to ask. So she walked back to the Twisted Root Tavern and cast a warning glance to Jarlosh as he gave a smirk when she entered. The look in her emerald eyes said not to mess with her, not even jokingly. Fluffing her long, blonde curls and making sure her dress was clinging in all the right places, Tessa stepped near the bar and surveyed those present in the common room. She rested her weight back on her hips and presented the sexiest pose she could muster. Then she cleared her throat lightly and said in a sweet, melodic voice loud enough to carry across the room, "I'm looking for a professional tracker. Is there anyone here who can help me?"

(( I wonder where Bryce went to? was waiting for him to respond. Ah well))

Ethan stepped into the temple ruins with Tessa, and he glanced to Siannodell briefly still getting over the testosterone-maelstrom that washed over him when they first met. He was more composed this time around, however and he looked at her briefly before scanning the inside of the ruins, his attention turning towards Melanie, the acolyte. "That makes three... damn better compose myself and my bushman tendancies!" he thought to himself, occasionally looking at a neutral object to distract his primitive thoughts. He looked behind him to see Bryce still standing outside some, thinking he was a bit too shy to approach a temple filled with women. "Oh come on, it's not that bad!" he barked to him from the inside "We're waiting!"
He turned his attention back to the room, thinking it be best that he spoke up first before Tessa and Siannodell spoke, just in case he changed his mind. He would only help if there was a reward at the end, like every other job he did.
"Excuse me, High Priestess Siannodell is it?. I am willing to help on the condition that there be payment for my services. I am a professional and not a charity and I don't mean to sound abrupt when I say that. Besides" he said the last word with a smirk "I need something to motivate the will to dive head-long into danger..."

((Geh, sorry, school fired back up and I've been gettin' back in the swing of things. Let's see here.))
Bryce gave his best fake smile. "Oh no, I insist, ladies first." He didn't trust her enough to turn his back on her. She gave off the feel of someone who would call you her savior one day and sell you into slavery the next.

Tessa opened her lovely mouth to speak, but before she could put her own spin on things, Ethan stepped forward and explained his terms without mincing words. The debutante shot him a faintly annoyed glance but kept quiet. Siannodell straightened and turned toward him, brushed her hands along the smooth curves of the side of her robe and gave the bounty hunter an enchanting smile while watching him coolly from the eye which wasn't hidden beneath the black leather patch. "I see," she said with a business-like tone, clasping her hands primly in front of her white priestess robes. "And how much do you think your services are worth, Mr....? I'm sorry, but Ms. Beauchamps didn't favor me with either of your names," she said looking from one man to the other. "It's possible we can strike a bargain, but I'd prefer of course, to know with whom, exactly, I'm dealing."

Indeed, he did proceed to explaining his own terms without parley, a move that would normally put him in a lesser position to bargain. However, Ethan wasn't one to try and 'sly' his way through, and telling by the depth in her one eye, she had seen much in her lifetime, and trying to squirm through her defences with verbal acrobatics would less than likely work. The town was in trouble by the sounds of things, and he didn't see Bounty Hunters or other mercenaries rally at a certain point, ready to take on this challenge. For all he knew they might be the only three people who would ever show up to take on this urgent job description. If *that* didn't give them some sort of advantage, or in the least a "fair" outcome for both parties, then he could just leave the town and go elsewhere. By what Jarlosh told him in the Inn, this town had been through two rough seiges, and stood taller than last time after each. They didn't neccessarily need him, but he didn't need them either.
'I could boast about my exploits, as I have already told Tessa earlier' and gave the Debuntante a glance before turning back to Siannodell. 'Lenny the loser, Big-hands the half-orc, Rogue-axe? heard that name before?' he shrugged and continued. 'Anyway, names don't matter and you don't need to know what extremes I am prepared to dive into to get the job done' he kept his eyes upon her one-eye as he spoke, 'In fact I don't think you care about what I have done or what kind of person I am. We're not even on first-name terms. I am Ethan, by the way, and the gentleman behind me is... well I don't know his name either.' He turned around to Bryce and shrugged. 'As for me, however, I see that your town is in danger, and by the looks of things there aren't much people around to do much about it, which makes it harder for us' and he swept his hand behind him to indicate the small group. 'There are, however, more than likely enough undead underneath those ruins of yours to ransack the city and feed upon your fair citizens, burn down your houses and s**t all over your pretty statues before you could even curse enough to show your utmost anger over it' he cleared his throat some, and continued on 'So I am going to leave you with naming the opening price, given the circumstances. Unless of course Tessa over here has a better way of explaining the value of our group better than I do. I think you know how to weigh this all up, so you name the opening bid and we'll make a start.'

Bryce waited while the bounty hunter ranted off his spiel and gave the priestess a small nod and a bow. "My name is Bryce. I am here because I was hired to find someone by the lady, and this appears to have become a non negotiable part of the deal. As such, I shall lend what aide I may." He sniffed and wrinkled his nose slightly. Something smelled foul around here. Sickly sweet, mixed with an almost stomach churning bitterness.......

Tessa goggled at the crude language the man was using in front of the High Priestess, but Siannodell didn't bat an eye...even though she only sported one to begin with. Instead, the older attractive woman nodded and gave both men an admiring look. "I appreciate your honesty," she said and picked up one of the lengths of wood she and the acolyte had been working on. She tossed it without warning to Ethan, who caught it easily. Then she picked up another one and tossed it to Bryce, who also caught his. "I know, better than anyone, the risks you'll be taking and the absolute horrors which are milling around the ruins outside the village as we speak," she said. Her tone was no-nonsense, and a deadly serious light shone in her eye. "After the Temple's destruction, it was obvious how ill-prepared we were...and still are. Melanie and I have been making stakes, in case the vampire has made more of her kind. She leads the undead army around the ruins. I don't know much more than that, except to tell you that she's probably after a powerful artifact which we have discovered lies somewhere deep within the ruins." Sia paused and looked down in thought, then studied the small group of would-be heroes again. "I had at first thought to send you after the relic, but on second thought, I think it might be too dangerous. Instead, if you could clear out as many of the undead, and if possible, get rid of the vampire, too, then that would be enough."

Tessa snorted and rolled her eyes, cocking her hips to one side. "You don't ask much, do you?" she smirked and tossed her long blonde mane over one sexy shoulder. The priestess of Mielikki regarded her coldly, her voice icy. "I never said it would be easy," she pointed out. Then she turned her attention back to the two men. "However, if it's money you want, I'll be honest and tell you that the Temple's coffers aren't that deep. We're a small parish, out in the middle of the forest. Look around, gentlemen, and you'll see that what I say is true." Sia spread one arm out and swept it out over the general direction of what used to be the Temple. "But of course I don't expect any of you to volunteer for this job out of the goodness and altruism in your hearts."

Sia's tone was cynical and she walked over to a small pile of items that had been salvaged from the wreckage of the Shrine. Pulling out a small silver box about the size of a loaf of bread, she sighed. Her back was to them and she opened the box, studying the inside of it for a full minute before closing it again and turning with it in her hands. "This is the last of what's left of the Temple's funds. There are fifty gold-pieces in here. The silver has already been removed to be melted down, but if you can clear the ruins of the undead and the vampire, you can have all of this." Sia set the box at their feet and stood again. "I know it's not much, and the only other offer of payment I can make is in potions given to the Temple by Mistress Starsinger. There are several kinds, but I don't know if this will be sufficient and acceptable payment to you or not."

Bryce looked down at the box at their feet and smiled softly. "You know, I don't know about you two," He looked at the bounty hunter and their mutual employer. "But I'm very behind on my donations. I'm up for a bit of, charity work." He could feel a prickle on the back of his neck now, and that smell still tickled his nostrils, but he pushed it aside as he waited to see if these two were willing to force a church to pay for good deeds.

Ethan examined the stake that he held in his hands, and moved it around in different angles to get the feel of it, while his ears tuned themselves into Siannodell's reply. The thought of dispatching more than a handful of undead deep in some ruins outside of the town and finding the leading vampire and putting this stake through it's heart lifted Ethan's skeptisicm more so now, and he took a deep breath trying to weigh up the options he had. He examined the tip of the stake, and tapped the wood on the floor as if to gauge the sturdiness and reliability of the object. Tough enough, he guessed, tough enough to impale the body of a vampire after a so-called "powerful artifact"

His eyes focused upon the high priestess again as she explained what she wanted them to do. He furrowed a brow cautiously at her when she said that she was planning on assigning them to find the artifact but changed her mind and thought it *better* and *safer* to send them after a dangerous undead denizen, a she-vampire. ....And that would be enough? True enough, he assumed thereafter, powerful artifacts were guarded by powerful forces, and fighting those would make hunting a vampire seem like child's play.

Familiar blond hair swept over shoulders came into his pheripheral sight, and he shook his head at Tessa when she abruptly injected her snide comment at Siannodell. "Manners..." he muttered low under his breath, but of course he could have encouraged her to open her untamed mouth when he initiated "Blunt Business" with Sia moments before, but Tessa had a knack for "speaking her mind" when most inappropriate, and he began to wonder how long it would take for him to want to extend a hand and smack her upside the head if she overdid it. He never hit a lady, but god, she sometimes acted like a child, and there was a difference between the two.

Turning his attention back to the High Priestess, He was about to chuckle and nod in agreement to Sia's comment on their unwillingness to help out of charity, but he did so inwardly, his face still remaining calm and still as he listened to her. He paid closer attention after she spoke on funds. It was true - their church was a small set-up, and now smaller still, but surely they had more tithing money than a mere 50 gold coins. Not much he could do right now to negotiate for more, and he wouldn't press for more that would cause strain on their behalf. He sighed and looked down at the bread-loaf sized chest of gold coins. That would be enough, considering the circumstances, and the mission would give him a chance to go treasure-hunting. Hell, it could even give him the oh so grand reputation he had been training and working for, something that to him was more valuable than money in some ways.

"Okay" he nodded at last, looking down at the small chest. He opened his mouth again to speak, but then Bryce put in some words. He narrowed his eyes some at him, his altruism getting up his nostrils. "Pussy..." he thought to himself, giving a smirk to the young man. He would interject and tell Bryce that a church was a business just as much as their help in clearing undead was a business, in a way. People will pay the church for their services, and the church would pay us for our services as well. But again, he kept his mouth shut, thinking it all the better for himself... more in the cut for him... but then was Tessa as well, and by the sounds of things she would also do this if she had something to gain from it, and he assumed it would be the gold, oblivious to her ambition in becoming an apprectice to Mistress Starsinger.

"I'll do it" he said with a flat smile "The small chest of gold is fine. The potions will definately be needed to. Keep the chest for now. We'll be back for it when we clear the ruins of the undead." and he looked to his travelling companions, especially at Tessa, who he didn't view as his "employer" anymore, considering their last transaction would technically be null by now. He looked at her, waiting for her trademark roll of the eyes or her flaunting motions that preceded a snobbish comment.

Tessa, being who she was, couldn't help but pout at the meager funds deposited before them. While it was true that 50 gold was a lot to some people, the beautiful blonde had known and become accustomed to a lifestyle where that kind of money was considered a pittance. "That's all?" she whined and then gave a spoiled sigh, crossing her arms and looking decidedly depressed. After Bryce made his remark, however, she felt a small twinge of guilt prick her conscience. She hadn't been a very good church-goer, either, but then, there was the possibility that Lady Starsinger would be appreciative of their deeds, and perhaps offer more compensation after they had completed the task. "Alright, well, if Bryce doesn't want his share, then I'll split the rest with Mr. Kynnes here, and when we do come back, maybe you can put in a good word with Lady Arienne for me?"

Siannodell watched the greed play through both Tessa and Ethan's eyes, but simply nodded in acceptance as they agreed to the terms. "Good," she said and turned away from them again, once more returning to the small pile of items. When she came back to them, she held a small, black box which she placed next to the coffer. Kneeling down so that her long, white robed pooled on the ground around her, Sia opened the box's latch, revealing sixteen potions of various colors. There were four rows of four, and each one was in a glass vial with a cork stopper. Siannodell studied them, deep in thought as to what to give the three adventurers. Finally she nodded to herself and plucked eight of the vials from their cushioned resting places. She handed a bright pink vial to each of them, followed by three light brown potions. "The pink ones will heal you ((Potions of extra-healing: 3d8 +3 HP restored, as well as up to 3 levels lost, or 3 points of Con.)), and the brown ones are able to neutralize most poisons if drunk within twenty minutes of contact." ((As per Neutralize Poison spell))  Sia looked back into the box with speculation and then handed the last two potions to Bryce. One was a light blue, and the other was a silver with red swirls. "The light blue one is a potion of Flight," she told him. "I understand that it's supposed to last about three hours, but I haven't tested it. The other one is a potion of Invisibility to Undead. I haven't tested that one either, but I advise you to hang onto it as long as possible and use it to help you kill the vampire, if you can." The High Priestess regarded them all with a serious expression. "Actually, the only ones that I know work are the potions of healing and the ones which neutralize poisons. Take a few stakes with you, too," she said, and handed them each a couple more of the crude, sharpened wooden poles. Tessa juggled everything she was being handed and gave the one-eyed woman an impatient glare. Ignoring (or not seeing) the look the debutante cast her, Siannodell approached the circular font located behind the altar and held her hand out to each of them. "If you hand me your waterskins, I'll fill them and then bless the water inside, and you'll have Holy Water to add to your arsenal."

Tessa blushed at this, having already filled her skin from the small pool, but she handed her full skin over to the other woman, glad that the priestess had thought to bless them. Gods, that would have been fun, she thought sourly, almost laughing at the irony of the situation. Trying to hurt undead with just plain water. The potions she had been given wouldn't fit into her over-stuffed pack, and she chewed her bottom lip in thought. Finally, she set her pack down and pulled out the bag which had been at the bottom and contained the money she had taken from the farmhouse battle. It chinked a little as she set it aside and she quickly glanced around with a guilty expression to see if any of the others had noticed.

Since no one seemed to notice the sound of money that the small bag made, Tessa breathed an internal sigh of relief. That would have been awkward trying to explain, she thought to herself. The buxom beauty carefully rolled the glass vials in some of her clothing to help keep them from breaking, then placed them inside on top of the pack and closed it. She studied the bag with the money from the corner of her eye and then looked at Sia. "Can I leave this here?" she asked sweetly, pointing to the bag. "I don't have room to take it, but it has...some jewelry and other things in it which I would hate to lose."

The priestess nodded politely and Tessa scooped up the bag as quietly as she could, holding it against her body to keep the loose coins inside from jangling. She handed it to Siannodell, whose eye grew surprised when she felt the weight of it. "We'll make sure it stays safe," she told Tessa, letting her know with a look that the cleric had already guessed what contents it held. Then she set it down near the pile as carefully as Tessa had picked it up.

He watched on as Tessa gave something to the High Priestess, although a brow had quirked upward seeing the way the Debuntante handed over her bag of "Jewellery" to Lady Sia. "Whenever you're ready" he said to the Blonde, catching the other stake in his hand, putting them both to the ground, giving Sia an annoyed glance as she handed everything to him "Hey, hey, one at a time, okay? I don't want to drop these potions...", slipping his free arm into the strap, lifting the other arm up while trying to balance the potions between his fingertips, grabbing the backpack with his free hand as it balanced on the other shoulder, lifting the strap over and off his arm. He placed the backpack on the floor, and stowed the two potions carefully into padded side pockets, strapping them into place safely, before throwing the backpack gently over his shoulders. He reached down and grabbed the two stakes, one in each hand, and looked over to them all "Time to..."Kill"...undead, then?"

"Thanks," Tessa said to Siannodell. Then she glanced at Ethan and Bryce and hefted her own stakes, swinging them experimentally in front of her as if getting the feel for how they would handle as weapons. "Yeah, let's get going before it gets dark." The lovely femme fatale shouldered her pack and gave the two men a lop-sided smile. "Ah, adventure," she remarked, looking only somewhat enthusiastic. "I really need to learn some freshen and clean cantrips, especially if we're gonna be fighting undead. They're so...gross." As the three of them left the temple grounds and headed in the direction of the ruins, Tessa kept up minimal chatter about anything and everything, trying to take her mind off of what they would soon be facing...
