Hello

I am searching for any details of my grandfather George Dalziel BALFOUR (b) 1876 (d) 1915.   Married 1911 to Alice Ada CLUTTERBUCK.   They had two sons, George James BALFOUR (b) 1911 and my father Stanley Dalziel BALFOUR (b) 1914.
My great-grandfather was also George Dalziel BALFOUR and one of my grandfather's brothers also named his son George Dalziel BALFOUR.   Makes it very confusing , particularly so as both my grandfather and this younger George both died at the age of 40!!
I would like to find a death certificate but am unsure as to where he actually died.  He was in the Merchant Navy running the blockade during WW1 between I think England and Ireland? and contracted pneumonia and went into hospital, maybe in Liverpool, and died as a result of this.   I believe his body is buried in Edinburgh but was unable to confirm that, and maybe he was buried in Liverpool or wherever he actually died.  He and his family were livign in Edinburgh at the time and I assumed his body would have been taken home there for burial but with it being war time maybe it wasnt.  Unfortunately by the time I became interested in looking for family details both my father and uncle had died, and trying to do much research from here is hard although the internet does make it so much easier thanitr would otherwise be.   any help you are able to give would be much appreciated.  Thank you.
Jennifer Balfour, Wellington, New Zealand

Hi Fran,
thanks also for the 1901 census details.  He wasnt actually married at the time - my grandparents were married in 1911.
Fancy it being where you live.  I must have been meant to have contact with you !!
This may have been where he met my grandmother later as she lived in Gloucestershire which I think is next to Wales isnt it?

You certainly do an amazing job in finding out all this information, I'm so glad I found your site.  Well actually my cousin did and she had a great deal of help from you too.
Thank you for all your help.

Kind regards
Jennifer
