To All Members
How the site works . . . please read carefully
Please post your search request on the relevant surname board, providing as much information as you can about your ancestor. This should include full name, date and place of birth, and if possible name of wife, children and any siblings, if known. The more you tell us, the more we can help you.
Go to your surname board and click "New Discussion". Please head the message with the name of your ancestor, starting with the surname in capital letters followed by the Christian names, for example: McCARTHY Patrick Joseph. Please always include the middle name if you know it, as this can help enormously in any search. We try to keep all messages consistent and easy to locate.
Please post only one request at a time. This gives every member a chance. (Once we have exhausted the search, you may post a second search request if we are not too busy). We will quickly begin a search on your behalf and will reply to you on site. Most of the information will be found by our managers within a few days of your posting, so please keep checking back on the site frequently. Your feedback is vital. Our managers spend long hours searching on your behalf, and all we ask in return is that you keep in contact and respond to the information we find for you.
We ask that you please always reply on site, and not from your e-mail inbox, because it causes problems. Just go to the last message in your thread, click Reply, and a new window will open for you to type in your message.
Strangely, some of you are not even posting a message! Naturally we cannot help you if you don't tell us what you want us to search for. So please post your request promptly as soon as you have been accepted.
Thank you all for your co-operation.
