Hello Saffron

I am helping Mike with your search.  However, I am unclear as to whether Albert Edward was born in 1834 or 1934.  Can you please clarify this?

Hi again

I think this is what you are looking for:

Marriages March qtr. 1934
Gladys I. Udale  =  Clarence A. Clarke
Leicester   Vol 7a   Page 513

Births Sept qtr. 1934
Albert E. Clarke
Mother's maiden name:  Udale
Leicester   Vol 7a   Page 310

I also found another Udale marriage in 1932 in Leicestershire -- in Market Bosworth, Nuneaton.

Clarence W. UDALE  =  Nancy E. WOOD

If you could tell us Clarence's parents' names, we might be able to find them in the census.  The latest one we have access to is 1901.

You will notice that in these official records the surname was spelt CLARKE.

Albert was born in 1934 and the marriage record you've found is the correct one.

Marriages March qtr. 1934
Gladys I. Udale  =  Clarence A. Clarke
Leicester   Vol 7a   Page 513

Clarence's parents were William Henry Clark and Sarah Ann Clark (the maiden name is not known).

Hi Simon

I am pleased to have found the correct marriage.  You would be surprised at the huge number of William Clarkes in the records!

I have also found Sarah Kilbourne's parents on the 1901 and will post shortly, now that I know she is "yours".

Simon - Is there anything you can tell me about Clarence's father Henry William Clarke that might help me to identify him in the census before he was married, such as names of his siblings, his place of birth, or even his address?  Or any other clue that would help?
