Hi My great grandfather Samuel Holt married Emma Foulkes born 1870 in Manchester. They had a son called Samuel Holt (my grandfather) who was born in Salford in 1899. I have been told that they had a daughter who died in infancy and another son called Harold. According to the 1901 census, Emma Holt and her son (Samuel) were with Emma's mother Eliza who was born in Burton on Trent. There is no mention of Emma's husband apart from she was still married and that her mother was a widow. Apparantly, Samuel left Emma around 1915-1918 and i have no other information to go by to get any further back. Janice | |

Hi Fran Thanks for the 1901 census with Eliza Foulkes, Emma Holt and son Samuel Holt as this is the correct one. Thanks for the 1891 census with the Foulkes on it and again this is the correct one as they are still at the same address as 1901, but the 1901 in Camberwell for Samuel Holt doesnt seem to tie in with anything. Janice (p.s. why can't i find any of them on the 1881 census?) |
