Hi Fran, thanks for your swift reply, ive been to my local records office today in northumberland and found Great great grandmothers marriage to Samuel clarke, one of the witnesses was John McMabe, maybe this is a brother, i didnt find him on the 1871census i found her on with her parents and 2 brothers on in Byker, Newcastle, i also found an 1891 census for Newcastle area for bernard McCabe, widower living with a Mary Ann Stafford, his widowed daughter.maybe John and Mary ann were older and left home before the 1871 census , im now going to try and find them alwell. look forward to hearing from you again many thanks christine |

Hi Fran, Thanks for your emails, you have been busy, ive noticed that the ages can vary from census to census, on the email you sent me about scottish 1861 census it says that young catherine is only 6months old,she would have had to of been approx 9years old as ive got her down in 1871 census as 19, plus ive found her marriage in 1875, and it says she was 23, which fits in with 1871 census,so there must be quite a mistake on the 1861 census, young bernard is on 1871 census aged 16, so his age mathces up with your 1861 census, ive also got a Patrick mccabe age 12 on 1871, and hes not on 1861 census, Mary's age doesnt match up as she would of had to of been born about 1849, as i found her living with her father in 1891, i found a John McCabe was witness at catherines wedding, on 1881 census i found Bernard down as Barney McCabe 60 and Catherine McCabe 50, living near Byker. it gets so frustrating at times, when ages and places dont quite match up. i would love to be able to go back in time and see whats right . keep up the good work, i hope to hear from you again soon, your help is much appreciated regards christine

Hi Fran, hows things, was just wondering if you had found anything more about the mccabes, i sent you a message on 29th and noticed its not on message board, maybe there was a problem when i sent it, it was a bout the 1861 scottish census , and how it was a shame you couldnt look at actual census like the english ones, as you can sometimes see where the mistake have been made when they have been copied onto ancestry etc. take care, hope to hear from you soon. christine |
