I had the Ballymoney site - Garryduff is the town of interest. Can't seem to get any further with the Carmichaels except wondering where they originated.

Mike,
The civil war vets you listed were not in our branch of Carmichael..
We did have Joseph who enrolled 5/5/6l at Phila. and was mustered in 5/28/6l as Pvt.
H:is age at enlistment is listed as 28 .
He died of consumption at Brandy Station, Virginia November 17, 1863
and is buried in Cul pepper Court House, Virginia grave 110, Section A, Row 4, Block l.
We know he was married and had two children.  His son, Samuel was placed in Girard College, Phila., a school for fatherless boys.
(I have traced Samuel later and he was unmarried for many years but did marry a widow with one grown son. They lived in Phila.)
Amazing isn't it?
