Hi again After Checking the Griffiths Registrations,No Diffey showed up in Tipperary.
The name exists ok But is Mainly Found in Northern ireland

Be aware that the name is spelled various ways -- Diffey, Diffy, Diffie, even Defi and Defie
The Family Names of Ireland lists Devilly, Diffley and Devally, being the anglicized forms of O'Duibhghiolla, the name of 2 distinct septs of the southern Ui Fiachrach and of the Siol Anmchadha, both of County Galway. Diffley and Deffely are more usual in the adjoining County Roscommon.

I have now checked Most registrations i can find,None Marrying a Diffey

Hi Mike,
Just opened my mail so surpised that you have gotten onto the job so quickly and with some results too, I'm very impressed and grateful.
I don't know if you noticed or whether you're telling me that differy isn't in the equation that the variations are without the 'R'
looking forward to further correspondance

regards
Tom

Hi Tom,I have run checks on Various sites for the Name Differy,There were Several ways of Spelling the Name.It does not mean that Your Differy is Wrong.Mary  Differy is not showing up via Tipperary records. So i presumed the name may have been spelt Different. Its strange that no site with records recognises Differy. So i searched the web
DIFFRY is one i found then those others.
You must have had the same problem when searching,
Would be gratefull if you have any other info that may help us.
The IRISH FAMILY HISTORY FOUNDATION has records for corcoran Ok but we need to find mary

If you join the Foundation its free to join,They have Sligo and tipperary records.
But both do not show differy

The foundation charge 5 euro per record,so you need to be sure before buying,or it can be expensive
Will do what i can Tom

There were two Possibilities Showing

Marriage Diffily Mary 1803 Co. Roscommon
Marriage Divilly Mary 1803 Co. Galway

Thanks very much Mike,

Mary and Owen were the parents of Gladys Corcoran nee Conlon.

I'm about to request her birth cert. after info. from my sister, which i'm sure should throw some light on the matter, I also discovered the location of Owen's birth cert. when I have them I'll let you know.

many thanks Mike

Hi Mike you recently gave input to Kay Cole re: the family Dempsey. Could you let her know that my Mothers maiden name is Dempsey and that She doesn't know anything about her side of the family beyond her father as it was a hush hush subject. Kay may have some answers as my mother has always regretted never pursueing the matter.

Thank You
Tom.
