Hello all, I am new to the board and you might have seen my post for help in other discussion threads.
I am researching my Father's biological line - Francis
I am stuck at:
FRANCIS, John born cir 1744 in Aldington, Kent, England
married to a Sarah Thurston. I have their son as James Francis born in 1783 christened 23 Nov 1783 Ruckinge, , Kent, England. He went on to marry Amy Wills - on 29 May 1815 Hernhill Kent. (It is my understanding that it was either her father or her brother - haven't quite figured it out yet - who was involved in the Canterbury Riots, 31st May 1838.)
Information on either family would be appreciated.
Thank you
Donna

Thanks Mike,
I will see if I can order the films - unfortunately I do not live in England - I am in Ontario, Canada. Unless you have any other suggestions how to track them down - preferably online.
I believe there is a LDS in the next town about 45 kms from where I live.

Wow, this is fascinating - I really appreciate all the effort you have put in trying to help me - an "imperfect" stranger.
It looks like there maybe several tie ins to my family. I will let you know how the puzzle pieces fit together.
You have the praise and thanks of my family - it is unfortunate that my Dad did not live to find out his biological heritage - he was raised by his maternal uncle with the last name of Hazelden. (which is what the family goes by these days).

Donna this is from the second trial of the Caterbury Rioters Cases

On the next day, William Wills, Thomas Myers alias Edward Wraight, Alex. Foad, Edward Curling, Thomas Griggs, Richard Foreman, Charles Hills and Williamn Foad were indicted for the murder of Lieutenant Bennett, but upon their being arraigned they pleaded guilty, on the same understanding as that which existed in the former case, namely, that their lives should be spared. The prosecutions in the cases of the other prisoners were not proceeded with, and they were discharged from custody.
2nd Day of Trial

Thanks Mike - yes that is Amy's brother. All of the information you have provided does link in with my family.
I do appreciate everyone's help with this. Sorry I haven't answered sooner but I've been sick and we've had some major snow storms and some power outages.
Again my thanks for the excellent help this group provides.
Donna
PS I will update both the Penrose and Francis lines so that you also have the information in case anyone else comes looking
