I would appreciate any help on my Irish ancestry, as I keep coming to a brick wall. 
My great granddad James Patrick Flanagan born 1879 not sure where born.  He died around 1914.  He lived with his family in Stradbally.
 
He married Kate Cantwell in Sacred Heart Church Stradbally 1903.

So far I have found the following:
 
On the Griffith's Valuations:
 
Surname First Name Townland Parish County
Flanagan James Stradbally (Main Street) Stradbally Laois
 
These Kildare records are the nearest I could find at the moment on the Irish Family History Foundation site: 
 
Action Source Surname First Name Year County
  Church Baptism Flanagan James 1878 Co. Kildare
 Church Baptism Flanagan James 1878 Co. Kildare
 
 
Stradbally is very near the Co. Kildare border, as you probably know.
Unfortunately, Co. Carlow and Co. Laois are not yet online at the IFHF site.  However, there are 20 counties online at present and new counties are being added weekly, so you may not have to wait too much longer. 
 
I will continue to post info on here as I find it.

Have you tried the GRO Ireland?  You could ask them to run a search for you.  The civil records began in 1864, so they should have yours.
