My G.G.G Grandfather Martin Gibbons born abt 1831 Ireland married Mary Ryan b.1838 Limerick. They had one son John Edward Gibbons b 1860 Limerick. I cannot find where Martin was born. His father was Stephen Gibbons, his mother Martha. I have been told that Martin may have been a Sergeant in the Irish Police force.Any idea where I can go now to find information on Martin? Thanks. Have just received a email containing police service record for Martin Gibbons born 1830 County Mayo religon R.C.I am very excited the record says he served from 1852 to 1860 he was posted to Limerick which is where he met his wife.I now think the rumour about the hotel must be false.I would now like to find any info on Martin and his family in Mayo. Thanks for all your help so far. Regards Sandra |

Hi sandra,What was strange was i was coming up with Gibbons From Mayo. There was a Lot of Gibbons living there.I did have a strange feeling it was where he was from. But until now i had no proof.Dont dismiss The LINK for Killaloe as i think that William Gibbons was also from That area.,and there could well be a family link.
