I am looking for information about Johanna Kiely/Keilywho married Edward Roche in Waterford City on 8 May 1897. Johanna's parents were Nicholas Kiely and Margaret Ryan.

I have the birth details of Johanna's siblings, all of whom were born/baptised in Ballybricken, Waterford, apart from the earliest recorded child, Honor, who was baptised in Newcastle Parish in February 1861. The other siblings are John b1863, James'b 1865, Micheal b1867, Mary b 1870, Nicholas b'1872, Thomas b 1875 and finally Tobias b 28 July 1878.

I do not know where Johanna fits in to this timeline, but the gap of 5 years between the marriage of Nicholas and Margaret (their marriage took place in Newcastle on 20 February 1856) and the birth of Hanora in 1861 could possibly suggest that Johanna was the first born. She appears on the 1911 census, living with Edward and 3 children at 11, Costellos Cross Lane, Ballybricken. Her stated age is 49. This suggests her birth year was c1862. I am also wondering if Honor could in fact be Johanna.

Does this family sound familiar to anybody? I would be grateful for any information that any one can help me with. Thank you

I am helping Mike with your search. We agree it does seem quite a possibility that Johanna and Honor/Honora are one and the same. If she was 49 at the time of the 1911 census, then she would have been born 1861 or 1862.

Thank you to Mike and Kate for your response to my " Kiely" query. Is this the marriage details for Nicholas Kiely and Johanna Kiely? It appears to be the Nicholas in my tree and Thomas and Micheal are mine, but these three are brothers of my Johanna Kiely. It's probably me being dumb. Could you tell me the link for the IGI entry you refer to. Do you mean Familysearch.Org? It's frusrating that I have done many searches on my Kiely's on Familysearch.Org and never found any thing on Nicholas. When you say there were 2 Nicholas Kiely's do you mean father and son? Totally confued!!!
