| Hi I am hoping someone can help me i am looking for information on James Overton I know he was a convict and he came from herefordshire came to australia and married Sarah Ann they had James overton.( i have information on this JAmes and the tree that follows him) but i would like to know where James overton was born and if he married here in australia and stuff like that it i would be greatful if anyone had any information thank you for your time Shely | |

James OVERTON, a native of Herefordshire, was convicted in 1818 for stealing one horse the property of a Mr Webb in Kingswinford, Staffordshire. The 1828 census records James being assigned to William Fuller of North Richmond. On 1/2/1836 James married Mary Turner, daughter of George Turner of Kurrajong. They had 8 children and lived at Kurrajong till James' death on 8/2/1876. Mary died on 21/12/1901 at Windsor. |

Hi Shelley i Found this Record Mike James Overton
On the 20th December 1818, James Overton stole a mare, valued at £5, from Richard Webb in Kingswinford, Staffordshire
Date Tried: 11th March 1818, Staffordshire Assizes
Sentence: Transportation for life |
