Hi Marian and Mike

I have put the Gordon research on hold for the time being.

I am now trying to trace my Trainors.  My grandmother was Ellen Trainor born about 1882 in Cavan, probably Cootehill.  Her father was James Trainor a farmer probably in Cootehill but I do not have a birth date

Ellen married Hugh Gordon in Cootehill in June 1911 and James was on the marriage certificate

I know this is not a lot to go on but it is all I have.  I would be very grateful for any help you could give me.

Regards Polly

Mike, I have looked at these sites and cannot see anything that jumps out at me.

According to her marriage certificate she was 29 years old on 5th June 1911 and her name was spelt Trainor and she was residing in Cootehill.  Her father is James Trainor - Farmer

I sent for her birth certificate but I do not have enough information for them to find it.
Could you give me the address and name of the RC church in Cootehill and if possible the name of the priest so that I can write to them, they may have some info Polly

They may not have the records you require

Info

St. Michaels church was built in 1930, and was designed by Dublin architect, W.H. Byrne. It was richly decorated with Italian marble and plasterwork and it contains fine stain glass windows. In 1993 the sanctuary of St. Michael's was redesigned by the then parish priest Canon Desmond O'Dowd.

Mike, what do you think would of happened to the records that we kept in the Chapel in Cootehill when the new church was built.  Do you think they would of been transferred to St Michaels, Polly

Mike, I have looked at this site, I am pretty sure that they are related to me but I cannot find a connection yet.

I am going to have to take a break for a few weeks my husband died last Sunday, it was very unexpected and a great shock for us all.

I will look on the site from time to time so if you find anything you think would be of interest please email, Polly
