Hi Carol Hope the weather is not too cold in Oz at the moment. We are enjoying hot sunny weather here in the British Isles. To answer your second question first, Lincoln is a town in the county of Lincolnshire (Lincs.). Sleaford is another town in the county of Lincolnshire. I will look at your file again and get back to you on John. Marian |

Hi again Carol Now about your John Wright. I have gone over the whole file again and I see that I did actually post the 1881 census transcription in message 34, the one where we find John Wright born in Sleaford, Lincolnshire. Here it is again: 1881 Census Residing at 4 Denton Court, Horton John Wright Head Married 34 Warehouseman Wool Stapler b Sleaford, Lincolnshire Jane Wright Wife Married 33 Mill Hand Textile b Bradford, Yorks. John Wright Son 2 b Bradford Carol, I must stress that you do need to be absolutely certain in your own mind that you have the correct William Wright's birth certificate before going back to find his parents. I am of course happy to continue helping in your search. Marian |

Hi Marian Glad the weather is finally getting warmer for you, no not too cold here we dont get snow so I suppose it doesn't get as cold as it does over there anyway. But in saying that I prefer the cold instead of the heat anyway. We are getting nice warm days but cold nights at the moment .... and hoping for rain we need rain really bad. Yes i am as certain as i can be that i have the right william wright, the birth cert i have for him i got from my cousin in england and he assures me that it has been cross matched with other documents. If his birth cert is wrong then everything i have for the ryans, cravens and wiggins is of no use. Also i have an internment register entry from where he was buried with my uncle who is in a war grave at scholemoor cemetery which gives his date of birth and death. So I do think that it is the right one Carol |

Well Carol, this Maria Wiggins born c1820 is certainly proving to be a mystery. I cannot find her on any of the censuses after 1851 either. I am wondering if perhaps there may have been an error on that census, apart from her name, for example her birthplace may not have actually been Bowling/Bradford at all. If that is the case, then it really is a wild goose chase. She could of course have died, but again I cannot find a death record that fits. These are my findings. Deaths Mar 1868 Wiggins Maria age 69 Bradford Yk 9b 98 Therefore born 1799 Deaths Jun 1850 WIGGINS Mary Ann Bradford Y 23 - 66 Deaths Sep 1854 Wiggins Mary Bradford Y 9b 71 Deaths Dec 1893 Wiggins Mary age 60 Bradford, Y. 9b 94 Therefore born 1833 Deaths Dec 1899 Wiggins Mary Ann age 71 Bradford, Y. 9b 51 Therefore born 1828 Deaths Mar 1888 WIGGINS Mary age 69 Wetherby 9a 96 Therefore born 1819 Marian |

Hi Carol This looks like John's birth and death records. We know from the census that he died between 1881 and 1891, and this one in 1885 is the only one that fits the timeframe, place and age. Births Mar 1848 WRIGHT John Sleaford 14 [35]49 Deaths Mar 1885 Wright John William age 37 Bradford, Yk. 9b 182 I am presently trying to find him with his parents in the earlier censuses, but so far to no avail. Hi Marian Has been unusally cold in oz this year, has been snowing in places that have not had snow before and temperatures breaking records as being the coldest days on record for particular days .... makes you wonder if the movie The Day After Tomorrow might have some truth in it.... Anyway I would very much appreciate any help on my John's that you can give, I don't have any more info than what I have given you but I will recheck all my documents and the emails I have and if I come across any thing else I will let you know.... On another note I noticed that you are helping Bernard looking for Edmund Ward ... Bernard is my father I have been on to him forever to contact this group for help.... I have told him how much you have helped me ... Anyway enjoy your summer dont sit too long in front of the computer go out and enjoy the sun .... winter will be upon you before you know it.... Hi Carol Very nice to hear from you again. We had lovely weather in May and early June here, but since then it has rained and rained and rained. However, it does keep the grass green in this Emerald Isle. I was surprised to hear that Bernard is your father. I do hope I can help him to locate the Ward family. When I get a chance I will also look into your case again and see if I can find anything more. Do let me know if you find any clues that might help. Best wishes Marian |
