Hi

This person was a life member of our cricket club and I am trying to compile full details on him.

I am trying to tack down the mother's full (maiden) name of this well known person, and maybe his father had a middle name. Thought it should have been easy, but I am struggling. Here is what I currently have on him:

His Excellency Colonel The Right Honourable Sir Leslie Orme Wilson GCSI GCMG GCIE DSO was born 1 August 1876 at Kensington, Middlesex, England. He died 29 September 1955 at Chertsey, Surrey, England. Son of Ada A ?? and Henry WILSON. He was made a life member of the Valley Cricket Club in 1934. Was Governor of New South Wales 1903 to 1909, MP for Reading 1913 to 1922, Governor of Bombay 1923 to 1928, Governor of Queensland from 1932 to 1946. Was a member of the Privy Council. Schools: St Michael's Westgate, St Paul's, London.

Cheers

Pat

Hello Pat

I will do what I can to help you.  Have you done any genealogical research on this person yet?  If so, and to save retracing your steps, can you tell me where you have searched?

Hi Marian

I have looked at the English BDMs on line and the English census results, along with a huge number of sources by googling given the high standing of this person. Unfortunately nothing I have found gives his mother's full name or her maiden name. Given his high standing and knighthood, I was confident I would find something, but alas have got nothing.

Cheers

Pat

Pat - Here is the marriage of Leslie Orme Wilson's parents:

Marriages Sep 1874

Orme  Ada Alexandrina     Kensington  1a 2
Wilson  Henry     Kensington  1a 2

His mother's birth:

Births Mar 1853
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ORME  Ada Alexandrina   Chelsea  1a 124

I think this answers some of your questions, but I will delve further.

Pat - Have you seen this?

Also, try typing "Sir Leslie Orme Wilson" in your search engine, and quite a few different sites will come up.
