My husband and I were talking about this weight issue .. that we both have, which I think is a good thing. Not that having a weight issue is a good thing, but him having one too, IMO is a good thing, because then he has more empathy for my struggles than say, a husband who is stick thin and can eat whatever he pleases without gaining weight KWIM?
So the plan I've come up with is this...
Tomorrow, hubby is going to record my weight.. take all my measurements, and take some pictures {these ones I'm planning on using as my "befores" this time}. I bought a really nice scrapbook today, and it's going to be titled "My Weight Loss Journey". Then each month, hubby will then record my weight, mesurements and take more pictures of me. I'm hoping that this will be the incentive I need to get this weight off. I need visual things in front of me. Friends have often commented how I'm never in pictures.. I'm always the one taking the pictures. This book is going to change that. It's going to be a book with only me in it lol .
The only thing that kind of bothered me when hubby and I talked today... was that I really realized that my weight's been around this number for longer than 4 yrs.. when I met hubby, I was about 175 lbs.. and that was in 1995. My lightest weight since then was actually just after I had my son in 1997. I weighed 180 lbs when I got pregnant, and at the end of the pregnancy I weighed 182 lbs. Yep.. I gained a whole 2 pounds during the pregnancy lol so when my son was a month old, I was at my lightest weight in years.. 165 lbs. (See how long weight has been a focus of mine!! this is nuts.. I would love one day to not have my daily thoughts be about my weight.. or food.. and I hope to one day not remember what my weight is according to special times in my life. ) My heaviest weight was in 2005.. I weighed 210 lbs that summer. So I have bounced around from 180 to 210 for the past 13 yrs or so. *sigh*
My hubby and I want to make a healthy lifestyle for us, so that we can pass that down to our son. So that he (hopefully) will never has a weight issue and that he learns to love daily exercise , and recongnize it as part of an every day occurance.. just like the sun rising and setting.
We're already talking over the idea of getting a boat for this summer, so that we can start rowing as part of our fitness plan. Oh and snorkling. lol though that one is more for pleasure, as where we would go snorkling.. you end up floating rather than swimming. And biking. I am sooo hoping that my son will learn to ride his bike this year.. and then we can add biking to our list of things to do as well.
