I have to be very careful with exercise. I have a form of Muscular Dystrophy and I have to make sure not to injure my muscles as they just will not heal correctly if at all. I am walking and doing some simple exercises such as sit-ups and leg lifts. I have come a long way with my walking. I was in Vegas earlier this year and couldn't hardly walk at all. In fact I took my walker out there with me. I started my diet almost as soon as I got back home because I felt so bad about not being able to walk. About 20 pounds later I went to Washington DC and never even thought about taking my walker with me. I wasn't quite keeping up with my 3 daughters, who are 25, 23 and 12, but I sure did a whole lot better than when I was in Vegas. Losing that 20 pounds has made all of the difference in the world in my ability to get around and stay mobile.
I couldn't get my walking in today. I was waiting around all day for a repair man who was suppose to show up first thing in the morning but didn't bother to come until this evening. I hate waiting on people to show up! I did do the rest of my exercises though. My neighbor wants to start walking with me in the evening. She has MS whereas I have MD. I think that we will work out great together. Neither one of us can go fast or else we'll just tumble right over! Neither her nor I will ever come in first place in a race, but at least we are out walking and not sitting on our behinds in front of the TV!
I got in lot's of walking today but didn't manager to do my other exercises. It was nice having my neighbor to walk with, I hope that she will keep coming out with me.
The exercising is going well. I have added more walking. Also we got a step climber that also works your arms at the same time as your legs. I am trying to use it a couple of times a day. Right now it is kicking my behind real bad. But, I will not give up!
