As someone who has survived Breast Cancer, I could relate to this challenge that DMAT has posted for us.
Let me tell you a little about myself.
I first found out that I had Breast Cancer in 1990.
Breast Cancer runs in my family. My aunt had to have both her breasts removed because of it and my mother had it, but passed away before she got treatment.
Scared??? You bet I was! There is so much that goes though your mind.
Will they get it all??
Will I die of Breast Cancer?
What will my husband, family and friends think?
Will my husband still love me??
These were just a few.
As it turned out, I didn't have to be scared. My husband, family and friends, supported me all the way. Still it was scary when the day came and I had both breasts removed.
I had 2 options. To have them removed with nothing, or to have the breast implants put in. I chose the implants.
I know you hear a lot about the implants. Some of you wonder why girls have them put in. And yes, I have to agree with you, in a lot of cases. But, there are other cases, also.
Let me tell you about a experience, I had once .
My hair dresser was out, because of a operation. My hair needed cutting and curling very bad, so I made an appointment at a beauty salon where I had never been before.
Most of the customers were gals that went there every week. Somehow their conversation turned into their opinion of breast implants. Every girl in there said they were against it and how foolish it was. I listened for a while, and then, I spoke up.....
" Pardon me, but not all breast implants are for cosmetic reasons. I have breast implants, but not for that reason. I had Breast Cancer, and I had 2 choices. Nothing or the implants. Tell me, which one would you choose??"
You could have heard a pin drop in that place. Finally the young girl working on my hair broke the silence by saying, " Well, I guess in your case it would be different" .
What I would like you all to know, is that Breast Cancer can strike anybody. Any age. I'd like to advise all women to get your mammograms. Don't wait until it's too late.
One thing nice about my experience is that I scared all my family and friends, and they all went to get checked!
If you would like to help a girl to get a free mammogram, you can do so. Just click on the link below, and donate. It's free. You have nothing to lose, but some poor girl may have a lot to win.
