A Christmas Poem.
As my children were trimming the Christmas tree,
One cold and snowy Christmas Eve,
I told them a story my mother told to me
About how Jesus was born on Christmas Day.
And put in a manger for his sweet head to lay.
Gifts for him came from miles away,
Celebrating his birth on this day.
When I was done, my story said,
I told them it was time for bed.
For Santa tonight,
He will come.
Bringing special gifts
For everyone.
I gently tucked
Each one in their bed;
And made sure their prayers were said.
I was surprised when I got to my sons bed.
I could see the questions in his eyes;
I knew right away he had a lot of Whys.
Mommy, he asked, why do we get gifts
On Jesus birthday?
And why does Santa bring them on this day?
My heart swelled. I had to tell him something
So I put it this way.
Honey, Jesus loves you and wants the best for you.
Santa loves you too,
Just as Mommy and Daddy do.
Santa wants to celebrate Jesus birthday,
By giving you gifts too.
I put a smile on my face,
And just as I was turning out the light,
He said, Happy Birthday Jesus
And Mommy, Good night.
The management of Grannies Attic would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
May God Bless you all.
