"....they were like sheep without a shepherd. (see Mark 6:30-44).
In Isaiah, it is recorded that God looked down and saw the state of humanity. Even though God had a covenant with Israel, the people continually rejected and ignored his warnings. But God looked on the Israelites with compassion and promised restoration and healing. His plan is revealed prophetically in Psalm 22. God would send His only Son, Jesus Christ, to be the Savior and Redeemer of the world.
Through this supreme sacrifice, the law was abolished and a new humanity created. A new covenant was established between God and man. Christ became our Hope of Glory. Righteousness was established.
In Mark, Jesus saw the people wandering aimlessly, "as sheep without a sheperd," in a hopeless state. Hopelessness is not knowing that one has a covenant with God. Jesus responds with compassion just as God responed with compassion in Isaiah. When Christ broke the bread buring this miracle feeding, he offered Himself to God, releasing His life for the world.
To eat and drink the communion (Eucharist), is to believe and to abide in Christ.
Today, too many people continue to wander aimlessly and search for answers. The answer for peace and everlasting life lies in Jesus Christ.
Are you wandering aimlessly? Jesus (Our Shepherd) is waiting for his lost sheep. Want you come to Him today?
Have a great day in the LORD. God Bless All. Love in Christ, Sister Betty
