Bible Study

This Bible Study is broke down into 3 different "Lessons." Below is the "Study Outline" for these lessons.

Lesson 1; Study Theme: "Becoming What God Wants Me to Be." There are 5 studies in this lesson;

1.) "Finding how I Fit In"  2.) "Relating To Other Christians"  3.) "Developing Christian Character"  4.) "Living For God Every Day"  5.)  "Telling My world About Jesus"

Lesson 2; Study Theme: "Profiles In Virtue."  There are 4 studies in this lesson;

1.)  "Readiness To Forgive"  2.)  "Loving Commitment"  3.) "Integrity In Crises"  4.)  "Loyalty To God"

Lesson 3; Study Theme: "Jesus: God With Us!"  There are 5 studies in this lesson;

1.)  "Jesus: The Creator with Us"  2.) "Jesus: The Sustainer With Us"  3.) "Jesus: The Sin-Bearer with Us"  4.) "Jesus: The Savior With Us"  5.)  "Jesus: The King with Us"

If you have a printer, you may want to print this out for handy reference, or copy to your computer. Since there are a total of 14 studies (This should last us up to Thanksgiving-hehe). You will need this outline, to help you follow this study. As in our last "Bible Study," I will post an "Introduction" to this study before we began our study and discussion. But first we must lay a foundation, the basis of where we want to be in the end—literally and spiritually. For this purpose, I have included the following scripture. Please open your Bible and read "John, Chapter 10," paying close attention to verse 10.

John 10: 1-5, 10. KJV…Jesus said: 1. "VERILY, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

2.  But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.

3.  To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice; and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.

4.  And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.

5.  And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

(To save space, I will go to verse 10, the key verse for this study. Please read all of John chapter 10.)

10.  The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to distroy: I (Jesus) am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

The introduction will be in the next post..Please pray for this lesson, myself and each other as we share the word of God.  Thank you and God bless All...Love, your Sister in Christ, Betty

(I hope I've got it right this time)

Bible Study

Introduction Aug. 23, 2002

Sarah starts every day with a time of meditation of God’s Word and prayer. She has been doing this for over 70 years. Even on rare occasions when she does not have access to a Bible, she quotes some favorite passage and prays. Her prayer includes praise and petition. A part of her daily prayer is to ask God to help her to be what He wants her to be all through the day. Is that your desire?

How closely does your ambition parallel Paul’s? He testified : "I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him" (Phil. 3:10-11). Underlying all of God’s Word is the urgency of each person’s believing in Christ and each believer’s seeking to be like Him. God wants us to be saved by His grace through faith, then to do good works for His glory (Eph. 2:8-10). He wants us to keep growing "in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" and to give Him "glory both now and forever" (2 Peter 3: 18).

Unfortunately, far too many Christians think of salvation only as an initial experience. They think they can receive Christ and then live as if nothing else matters. They do not realize God has called them to become more like Jesus every day, constantly growing and allowing the Holy Spirit to duplicate His attributes in their lives.

These studies touch on the core of the Christian life. How can we become all God wants us to be? I have observed that many older people seem to say by their actions, if not their words: "I’ve served my stint in the church. It’s time for me to step aside, to turn it over to others, and to rest."

The first lesson of this unit reminds us to be faithful as long as we live.

The second lesson shows how believers are to relate to other Christians. Believers need to bear one another’s burdens, lift up the fallen, have a realistic view of themselves, and support people in the ministry.

This unit also will encourage us to develop Christian character, to live consistently for Christ every day, and to tell other people about Jesus and the difference He makes in our lives. We are to make the most of opportunities to influence society for Him.

 Hey Sis, U know how Duh' I can be sometime But I'm not sure what we are to do. Do we start with lesson one and post our own study findings based on the topic? are just go down the list and find a topic? and if we start with topic #1 when does it start, (now) or do we need to wait and let you start it and then follow your posting? Now that I have got you as confused as I am maybe U can help me understand K?

I'm sorry Sis, I know, this is confussing to me too, because I don't have a study guide on this Bible study,,I'm like "winging-it" in this one...Sooo the "Introduction" (an example of what living a Christian life means) is just ground work,,to give us an idea of the nature of our lesson theme, "Becoming What God Wants Me To Be".
I included scriptures to back up what I was saying, in the ground work.  I hope this is making sence now...
The first study, "Finding How I Fit In", will be posted on a 'new discussion' page, it will have scriptures to read and then post your comments..it talks about the gifts of the Spirit and comparing the church as the body of Christ, then how we "Fit" into the Lord's church.   Does that help you understand it more now?   Pray for me, for I know not what I do, I'm just a babe myself. hehe
