Week Three (3)  using smaller font inorder to get todays lesson in first posting window, so it won't archive.

"Oh, that Your hand would be with me!"
"You never become truly spiritual by sitting down and wishing to become so. You must undertake something so great that you cannot accomplish it unaided." Phillips Brooks

This week You'll Discover;
  • What it means to have God's hand upon you.
  • Why feeling "in over your head" is normal - and what you should do about it.
  • What the Bible says about being filled with God's Spirit.
  • What might be keeping you from asking for God's hand upon you.
  • How you can experience God's power in your life today.

It's time to Sink or Swim

Have you ever taken on a big task only to discover too late that you've gotten in way over your head?   When you ask God for more blessings and more territory, you'll have that experience.  You'll feel like you set out to dog-paddle across your favorite pool only to end up in the middle if the English Channel.

Jabez knew that feeling. That's why in the third part of his prayer he cried out: "Oh, that Your hand would be with me."

Yet for the Christian, realizing our desperate need for supernatural power is a point of great promise.  It's the threshold to the kind of living that changes lives and impacts the world for God.  and that's exactly what God has in mind for you.

How much do I experience God's power?

1....One of the most remarkable teachings of the Bible is that the hand of Almighty God can rest upon a person and provide all the power and resources that are needed to accomplish His will.  Describe the time in your life when you either felt or witnessed God's hand powerfully moving.  What happened?

My Power Inventory. Quiz:

2....How much do you count on God's hand moving on your behalf as your territory expands for Him?  Put a number from 1 through 5 as follows:  1. Strongly..2. Slightly Disagree...3. Unsure...4. Agree... 5. Strongly Agree.

__whenever I sense that God is directing me, I'm confident that He has His glory and my good in mind, no matter what I'm feeling at the moment.

I have to continue in next post, having too many problems in this window. God put Your hand on this lesson. I rebuke all attemps of the devil to stop this Study! In Jesus name I pray. Amen!

Extra note here) some (even today) teach that this powerful indwelling was given only to those who where in the upper room when the Spirit descended, but as you can clearly see in Acts 2:38-39 “For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.?

They teach also that a lot of the gifts of the Holy Spirit has passed away, (such as speaking in other tongues,) but it will not pass away until “that which is perfect is come?and that which is perfect is "Jesus Christ Our Lord" and when he comes the only thing that will not cease is Love, (Charity) for when we are in heaven we will not need the gifts but love is everlasting for "God IS Love."

1Co 13:8-10

Charity (Love) never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

Heb 13:5
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
Heb 13:6
So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. Glory to God!!

God manifests his Fatherly comfort through his word. Ro 15:4
For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
God has promised us a comforter (Act 2:38-39) the Holy Spirit. A closed, neglected Bible often causes comfortless hearts. but as we read the Bible throughout the day, we turn our own grief to fuller appreciation that the Son of man also endured sadness, loneliness and pain.  And he went that finanl step we will never take: He suffered and died alone for our sins on that crual cross.
Now as we pray, the Lord Jesus brings our request before the Heavenly Father we know that He truly understands our deepest needs. We can rest upon His promises; "I will not leave thee comfortless...I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee" (John 14:18 & Hebrews13:5)!
Amen!! Praise God, I have the filling of the Spirit, too!! As God promised!!
Here Sis, hold your own Mule, I've got shouting to do myself!!

...well we’re kinda?like old Jeremiah, (in Jeremiah 20:9) every time we think we are finished speaking, we find that his word is in our hearts and it’s a burning fire shut up in our bones?

so we can either 'speak it' or disintegrate.

And then it would be ‘POOF?another man done gone. hehe

"He hath said."

--Hebrews 13:5

If we can only grasp these words by faith, we have an all-conquering weapon in our hand. What doubt will not be slain by this two-edged sword? What fear is there which shall not fall smitten with a deadly wound before this arrow from the bow of God's covenant? Will not the distresses of life and the pangs of death; will not the corruptions within, and the snares without; will not the trials from above, and the temptations from beneath, all seem but light afflictions, when we can hide ourselves beneath the bulwark of "He hath said"?

Yes; whether for delight in our quietude, or for strength in our conflict, "He hath said" must be our daily resort. And this may teach us the extreme value of searching the Scriptures.

There may be a promise in the Word which would exactly fit your case, but you may not know of it, and therefore you miss its comfort.

You are like prisoners in a dungeon, and there may be one key in the bunch which would unlock the door, and you might be free; but if you will not look for it, you may remain a prisoner still, though liberty is so near at hand.

There may be a potent medicine in the great pharmacopoeia of Scripture, and you may yet continue sick unless you will examine and search the Scriptures to discover what "He hath said."

Should you not, besides reading the Bible, store your memories richly with the promises of God?

You can recollect the sayings of great men; you treasure up the verses of renowned poets; ought you not to be profound in your knowledge of the words of God, so that you may be able to quote them readily when you would solve a difficulty, or overthrow a doubt?

Since "He hath said" is the source of all wisdom, and the fountain of all comfort, let it dwell in you richly, as "A well of water, springing up unto everlasting life." So shall you grow healthy, strong, and happy in the divine life.

continued...

(I realize this is a lot of reading, but I'm setting the stage for what comes next in our study)

"I will never leave thee."

--Hebrews 13:5

No promise is of private interpretation. Whatever God has said to any one saint, He has said to all. When He opens a well for one, it is that all may drink. When He opens a granary- door to give out food, there may be some one starving man who is the occasion of its being opened, but all hungry saints may come and feed too.

Whether He gave the word to Abraham or to Moses, matters not, O believer; He has given it to you as one of the covenanted seed.

There is not a high blessing too lofty for you, nor a wide mercy too extensive for you. Lift up now your eyes to the north and to the south, to the east and to the west, for all this is yours.

Climb to Pisgah's top, and view the utmost limit of the divine promise, for the land is all your own. There is not a brook of living water of which you may not drink. If the land flows with milk and honey, eat the honey and drink the milk, for both are yours.

Be thou bold to believe, for He hath said, "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee." In this promise, God gives to His people everything. "I will never leave thee." Then no attribute of God can cease to be engaged for us.

Is He mighty? He will show Himself strong on the behalf of them that trust Him. Is He love? Then with loving kindness will He have mercy upon us.

Whatever attributes may compose the character of Deity, every one of them to its fullest extent shall be engaged on our side.

To put everything in one, there is nothing you can want, there is nothing you can ask for, there is nothing you can need in time or in eternity, there is nothing living, nothing dying, there is nothing in this world, nothing in the next world, there is nothing now, nothing at the resurrection-morning, nothing in heaven which is not contained in this text--"I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."

Glory to God!!

So, what is keeping you from experiencing God's Hand on you, or keeping you from being happy in the Divine life?  We are about to explore "misconceptions" in my next post.

What is keeping me from experiencing God’s Hand?

If you are ready to break through to experiencing the hand of God on your life, try to identify what misconceptions hold you back. If one or more of the statements (below) describes how you think or feel, you are trying to do God’s work in your own (very limited) power. You can find the truth in the references scriptures below (Note: we may have already covered some of the scriptures). Then paraphrase your new breakthrough belief.

Answer “Yes?or “No? to the following 5 statements.?.

1. IT’S NOT FOR ME. I think the Spirit is a mysterious power that spiritual people have but that isn’t available to me.

Read: Romans 8:9, 15-17; Ephesians 5:18; and 1Corinthians 12:7. The supernatural power of the Spirit is available for every believer--including me--because?

2. I CAN’T COUNT ON GOD’S POWER. When I get in a place where I can’t succeed without supernatural help, I always pull out. I doubt that God will come through for me, and why should I go down in flames?

Read: Ephesians 3:20; Colossians 1:28-29; Acts 4:31. I can trust God to come through with His power because?

3. I CAN’T GET MORE OF GOD’S POWER. I don’t believe you have to ask for more of the Spirit. Every Christian has the power of the Spirit in equal measure at all times.

Read: Ephesians 1:19-20; 3:16; 6:10-20. God wants me to ask for more of the Holy Spirit because?/P>

4. I’M AFRAID OF LOSING CONTROL. If I let God’s Spirit really work through me, I might do or say crazy things.

Read: Galatians 5:22-23 (a fruit of the Spirit is self-control--those who are filled demonstrate most self-control); 1 Corinthians 14:33; 2 Corinthians 3:17. My fears of doing or saying things when God releases his power through me are groundless because?.

5. I CAN HANDLE IT ON MY OWN. God gave me abilities, resources, and experience for a reason. God expects me to put them to work, and He’ll add His blessing if I do. That’s all there is to it.

Read: John 15:5; Zechariah 4:6; 2 Corinthians 3:5-6; 1 Corinthians 2:3-4. No matter how smart, talented, or good-looking I am, I still need God’s power to do God’s work because?/FONT>

To close this weeks lesson, pray the following prayer. Eph 3:17-21.
That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.  Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

(After we finish discussing the above, I will start the next lesson on a new thread, page 4). God bless this study, Amen!

1. IT’S NOT FOR ME. I think the Spirit is a mysterious power that spiritual people have but that isn’t available to me.

Read: Romans 8:9…Yes it is for me!!

Often we over look one of the main points in Romans 8:9 ?B>ye are not in the flesh?

We do not reckon ourselves to be dead to our flesh, (Ro 6:11) knowing that (in our flesh) there are limitations, this places us in the bondage of fear (verse-15) and renders us powerless.

So how do we overcome this?

We cry out Abba, Father, let your spirit bear witness with my spirit that I am dead ‘indeed?to my flesh. I am your child, adopted out of my deadly flesh, made alive through your Holy Spirit. Remind me dear Lord that I was crucified with Christ nevertheless I live! Ga 2:20) And the life I now live, I live in the spirit (not in my flesh-for I have reckoned myself dead) I have (now) received my inheritance; I am your heir Almighty God and a joint-heir with you son Jesus Christ. Ro 8:17

Bbl with my study in the rest of these scriptures.

AAAAmen Sister!! great teaching!

1. IT’S NOT FOR ME. I think the Spirit is a mysterious power that spiritual people have but that isn’t available to me.

1 Cor 12:7  But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.<O:P> </O:P>

In speaking directly of spiritual gifts, the apostle is talking about our abilities for service given by the Holy Ghost to us individually.  Verse 4 speaks of how many different gifts there are when it speaks of diversities of gifts.

But whatever gifts we have, it is due to the Holy Spirit bestowing them unto us.  As there are many gifts, there are many different ways in which these gifts are used.

How we administer these gifts may be different, but the same Holy Spirit directs us in this.   As there are different ways of administering the gifts, there are also many differences of operation?but only one God who works all in all.

These various manifestations are given “to every man?for the general good of the whole church.  (to profit withal as it says in verse 7)<O:P> </O:P>

Oh thank God for sending the power of the Holy Spirit. I can do nothing with out God.
I cant even walk with out him holding my hand.
every promise in Gods word I claim for my self He said I could for it is mine, and to my children and my childrens children

Act 2:39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, [even] as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Praise God he called my name when he hang on the cross for me. Glory

There is no power above the power of God ,so Ill trust his plain for me,because I can do nothing with out him.

3. I CAN’T GET MORE OF GOD’S POWER. I don’t believe you have to ask for more of the Spirit. Every Christian has the power of the Spirit in equal measure at all times. Yes we Do! Have the equal measure, and it is up to us to use it!) Although some think not?and this mind set can and does render them powerless)

I do Not believe that you ask for more of the Holy Spirit. We can and should ask for more boldness, wisdom, and revelation and knowledge etc) as spoken of in Eph 1:17) and ask that our inner man be strengthen Eph 3:16) so that we may be strong in the Lord and the power of his might and be fully clothed in the full armor of God, Eph 6:10-18)

As you can see in these verses Eph 1:19- the fullness of his power is to us-ward who believe which was wrought in Christ when he raised him and sit him at His right hand in heavenly places.

Not only did he raise Him up to sit in heavenly places, he also raised us up to sit in heavenly places. As we can see in Eph 2:6)

Now putting these two verses together we get the full picture of what Paul is teaching us Eph 1:19-20-Eph 2:6

And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

I believe that when I received the promise of the Holy Spirit (sent down by God) that this promise (like all of Gods promises) was given by grace and in full measure, therefore I need not ask for more - for I am not lacking. So if I (being evil) know how to give my best to my children, how much more will God give good things to me?

Lu 11:13

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

When our children say they are hungry and ask for food, we don't give them a teaspoon at a time and tell them to keep coming back untill they are full, we give them a full plate.  We ask the heavenly Father for the Holy Spirit, filled us.

Ok sis I’m finished on this page, I will go to our next lesson. This is getting better and better and I am enjoying it so keep it coming!
