Hi'dy Tess it's great to see you in the house again, we have missed you! I just talked to Earline a few minutes ago, she said, when they went for Gene's radiation treatment on Tuesday the doctor xrayed Gene's lung and found that the spot was spreading. He had been taking radiation for his rib, so they will start giving him more for his lung too. He is still taking the pills too. She said that there was a fund raiser scheduled for today there in BW, but the wind is so bad they had to cancel it. The wind was blowing roofs off and power is out in one part of town, she didn't know just where, they heard it on the scanner. Lets continue to keep them all in our prayers. You stop in again soon. lots of love Cuz Betty |

Thank you. I try to call Uncle Paul or e-mail John at least once a week, but I haven't had a chance lately. |

Hi, this is Debbie, John's wife. Gene was admitted to the hospital Tuesday night. He had some water on his lungs and that was stressing his heart. They have started a pain medication on IV pump now and he seems to be doing a little better. Keep him in your prayers, always. The pain he has been in has been so great that he doesn't want to even get out of bed to go do his cancer treatments. We are hoping with him at the hospital that they will be able to take him for his treatments. Keep Earline in your prayers. This is so very hard on her. Love you all, Debbie |

Blessed Easter to All: Gene is still in the hospital and he is doing a little better pain wise. They've switched from IV pump to pain pills and they are hoping that he will get more sleep. He is fidgety with the tubes, monitor, his clothes and anything within reach. Even through the night. The medication he is taking seems to keep him confused. He is eating a bit better. A brain scan was taken this week and that shows to be clear. The difficulty at the moment is that he shouldn't be left alone because he could hurt himself or fall. I apologize for not thinking to mention it earlier but he is in Brownwood Regional in Rm 204. Love to all Debbie |

Hope you all had a good Easter, We stayed home. I'm sick so didn't want to expose anyone. God bless his heart, I know it is hard on him and Earline. I'm sure the pain meds is causing the confussion and the fidgeting. I'm glad he is eating a little. Thanks for the update, I will continue in prayer for them and kids. Love Betty |

Well, latest update on Gene and Earline: Whew! The hospital released Gene to Songbird Lodge for rehab. yesterday. Earline went into the hospital yesterday because of all the stress with Gene. She had a problem with her heart. She had not been feeling well for a couple of days and had not told anyone. Today, she is doing a lot better. Don't know when she will be released. Gene is not happy but accepts this. He needs LOTS of encouragement so he can get his rehab. He thinks this is the final step and it is not. He needs to be reminded and encouraged to cooperate so he should hopefully have the opportunity to leave the nursing home. Nettie is really down because of all this with Gene. She needs LOTS of encouragement as well. Yesterday was a very full day for John. After I left work at 6 p.m. we continued with some of the things that needed to be done and it was 10 p.m. before we got back home. Right now, everything that is going on is just absolutely overwhelming, but we look to God for guidance and strength. Love to all, Debbie |

Thank you Deborah for the update. I know it has been hard on Earline; the stress can be almost as bad as the sickness of the loved one you are caring for. Only the strength of our God Almighty can stand up in times like these, we just have to cast our care on Him, for he is able to carry all of our burdens. I am keeping all of the family in my prayers, as you all walk this valley. May God walk with you all, encouraging you all in His word. Love-n-Hugs. Cuzz Redda |
