Praise the Lord!!!! It is finally finished "Our Gober Legacy" page is located on the left side list, 6th from the bottom. Go take a peek and let me know what you think. I've worked all week end to get it posted for you and lost the information 4 times, just before I was ready to save it, the a pop-up storm came and the Elec. went off and I lost it again plus some of the backgrounds...So it is very simple, (I don't know how to do backgrounds, I have to get Lisa do those), maybe that is what the Lord wanted...Plan and simple -like our roots.

I have to thank Aunt Nettie Mae Lawson for inspiring and encouraging me to search out our family history. In 1996 I called her to ask what her grandmothers name was on her mothers side,,she was soooo excited that I was even interested in our 'Roots" and said the name was Margaret Evaline Sullivan-that’s all she knew. She also told me that her grandfathers was John Hunt James, then ask me why I was suddenly, urgently needing this information. I told her because I was beginning to feel disconnected, that I needed to find my "Roots."

As time past I called her several times asking more questions, it so that the first thing she would say when she heard my voice was, "Have you got any more information for me", and still does to this day. I would have to tell her no, but that I was closing in on the Gober"s.

Then I lucked up in 2000, while visiting in Texas. Our Sister Mary Jane Bishop Farrer was also visiting from California..She had come across someone with information about "Her" Great-grandfather, Jasper Gober. As she read the papers to me, Redda and Sue..I was looking on too and the words "Attala County" caught my eye, I grabbed the paper out of her hands and said, "That's where I live!!" Long story short, I felt connected again.

I got back home, called Aunt Nettie Mae and went to our local Library and sure enough they had 2 file cabinet drawers of Gober information. I left my phone number with the clerk incase anyone else came looking for family. Not long, LaRon Gober called, told me about the National Gober Reunion to be held in Odessa, Texas in two months. I made plans and went...the rest is History!!! But I'm still looking for the Sullivan Root's...Now go take a peek at our Gober Legacy. The Next National Gober Reunion is scheduled for Sept. 2003..right here in Mississippi!! Love Betty
