Sounds like you are having a rough day. Well I will join you! Everything was going fine at my cleaning job until I decided to use the shower head to rinse the shower. I reached up to angle the nozzle and the entire thing broke off from inside the wall in my hand! I took responsibility for it - went up and found them which was so much fun. But there's no way turning the shower head should have made that happen. So instead of thinking "oh isn't she great, she's taking responsibility for something she obviously really can't have done," Tony's (the husband) reaction was to question me as though it couldn't possibly have happened that way. Well, yeah, it couldn't have. There was obviously something broken inside the wall and that should have been his first thought considering my history with them but his first thought was that I was lying about what I did. What did he think I was doing, swinging on the thing like a chimpanzee? So my feelings were hurt and I started crying after he went back upstairs and I was actually crying hard enough that I had to stuff a rag in front of my mouth to keep from being loud. I got myself together before I left - I saw them again and I was fine but I did a half-ass job on the rest of the house because I just wanted to leave.
If they were friends or something, I'd confront them but they're a client. I should have said what I thought about it not being my fault but I didn't want to be defensive about it. I kind of figured they'd say "uh, there's no way this could be your fault" but it didn't go that way.
Sigh. I'm making myself feel better by thinking how next December I won't even remember this happening. It's definitely not the end of the world and the actual thing could have been worse - I mean, it can't be more than $200 to fix it I'd think. They are using my plumber and they charge about $100 an hour and if it's a big repair then that is even more obvious I didn't do it. Hopefully the plumber will tell them it was unscrewed inside before I touched it. The piece that came off had threads on it like it screws into the other pipe so even if I'd done chin-ups on it it couldn't have come off like it did unless it was unscrewed. Who knows, maybe Tony will think I unscrewed it for some dumb reason.
Ahhh.
I need to go shower and maybe do some picking up or maybe do some Christmas stuff. We'll see!
BTW How do you like having a garage??? I use mine for a fridge too, at Christmas. I use my deck for sodas and my garage for baked goods :-)
