I love to recycle.

I am lucky enough to have a broom closet and in the bottom I have a box where newspapers and all other paper for recycling goes.  When it is full it gets bagged and out with recycling.  They only pick up recycling every other week up here.  People do not recycle enough.  It drives me crazy!!!

For cardboard food packaging I keep an empty cereal box under the sink.  It does not take up much space.  We just crush the package, including egg cartons, (another reason to wear shoes in the house, or in my case mocs and great stress reliever) and it goes in the box until no more fits.  By the time it is full, there is usually another empty cereal box under there waiting.  Dh knows to keep them for me.  (I don't eat cereal but he does almost every morning)

Cans and plastic - a bin attached to cupboard door with a bag in it.  When the bag is full out it goes to the recycling box in garage.

We have two large garbage bins in our kitchen. One is for boxboard and paper, the other is for plastic bags and cans, etc. The latter bin just gets dumped into the recycling box Sunday night and then the other one is sorted into paper and boxboard. Boxes get thrown into the garage and then broken down so I can stick 1 or 2 loosely into the can. Now, I'll be saving those though. hehe

I keep a cardboard box in one cabinet for plastic and cans.  When it's full, it gets dumped into the outside one.  We don't have to sort here.

We don't have to sort plastic from cans either.  Do they recycle paper and cardboard where you are Joni?

Just newspaper and boxes but we have to take them to a center so we let them build up for months usually before we get around to it.  We're good with the newspapers -we put them in brown paper bags to keep them neat but the boxes take over quickly!  Dh keeps a lot of them in the basement for ebay but the ones that need to be recycled end up multiplying in the garage until we get fed up.  I want to install a bin on one wall to put them in in between trips.

That is a pain that your town does not pick up paper Joni.

Awesome news is that Toronto has now started organic pick-up!  It has been done in Europe for years.  I am hoping it comes here eventually.  I should just compost in the backyard, but it attracts vermin (rats) sometimes.  It would be nice if the town could take care of the composting and we could just purchase it.
