| In the small town where I grew up, the obstetrician had a reputation for being able to predict the sex of an expectant mother's baby. On the woman's first visit, he would tell her his guess and then write it down on his desk calendar. Though occasionally he was challenged when a mother thought he had been wrong, the calendar always proved him correct. At his retirement party, he was asked the secret of his uncanny ability during 60 years of practice. He responded simply, "I always wrote down the opposite of what I first told them." | - submitted to Reader's Digest by Arlin L. Lambert | Hugs, AngelBear7042 |
