Calling all interested parties!! We each have varied styles, tastes, techniques and favorite tools of the trade: let's be generous in sharing some of these 'recipes' and maybe instill, in some one of us, the desire to try a "whole new thing". For instance, Moon... will you elaborate some on scratchboarding and all it's accompanying 'tools', for me.... to start this off? (at this X, I want to say 'thnx for the offer of a supplier's address; Think I can find some 'board at a supplier, 50 mis from here; "Paperklip" ) BUT, I'm not ready yet, to try 'boarding, LOL!! Only scopin out stuff!! Sorta sneakin up on the idea.... star |

Hi All, I'm new here, I saw your group at msn and thought hmmm interesting. I'm from British Columbia Canada in the lovely Okanagan Valley, 2 hours from Spokane Washington. I've been artistic most of my life, as a child I won awards for my drawings of animals, as a teenager in high school, I won awards for my water colour landscapes. I moved to Vancouver and then began drawing people. For years I put aside my pencils and paints and focused on my daughter. Last year, i picked up my pencils again, and decided to put together a portfolio of portraits so I could pull in a little extra money...and be creative again. It's been wonderful drawing again. Even better to get paid for it...lol. I just started I mean just, doing watercolour portraits after a few people I was trying to talk into giving up their money for a portrait said they'd prefer colour. So i asked for and got water colour paper, brushes, and pencils as a christmas present. So far I've done a portrait of my daughter, and one of my niece. I'm working on one of a friend's son. I have found it takes less time for me to do a watercolour then a drawing, but that may just be cause I'm working on 8 1/2 by 11 watercolour paper where my drawings are twice that size...lol. I've been reading the posts from this board and a few of the other message boards (risque's been keeping me in stitches...lol). I must say you are a colourful crew in here. I thought I might post some pictures of my drawings soon. Regardless I think this is a fascinating group and can't wait to check out more of the boards...time permitting of course. Star...I completely understand your love of pencil work. It's home for me. Anything else is just dabbling. Mirandy |

Your art history is interesting, Mirandy... I'm very glad you're able to work at it again. I noted that after I'd left off doing it for a long time, then went back, that instead of being rusty, I'd improved! Go figure! I was pleasantly... stunned. LOL I had a lot of dog portrait drawings & one of two bears at play, displayed here.. but they'd been posted from another's computer and when she quit the group, she erased them... maybe someday, I'll make some more... star |
