I make mine a little different these days.
One family size or five small tea bags.
I bring the water to a boil and then add the tea, covering and steeping five minutes.  I use 5 packets of Splenda and make it a half gallon.

I've read where you can put a pinch of baking soda in, to give it a darker color and cut a little of the bitterness.

The pguy makes the best tea, it tastes as good as you can get in a BBQ restaurant here.  He uses 2 family size bags, and uses the coffee maker...8 cups (a pot) One cup of sugar, add water to make a gallon.

I'm thinking about changing to Splenda, the *sneekie* way...hum...wonder if I can bait and switch?  Sure would be good for the health, and the waistline!

I do know that keep the tea on the heat for too long will make it bitter.  Yours sounds good and right, too, Anna!

isnt it funny.........tea is just tea...water...and sugar......however i have found that some people get it JUST RIGHT and it just tastes so much better....maybe its their water..maybe its the time the teabags are in........or something....i have a friend that boils her sugar with a lil water to make a simple syrup to use in the sweet tea......its good too......thanks for the recipe peny..

In my experience it's definately the time the tea bags are in hot water that's crucial.  Over five minutes and the bitterness starts to come out.  Then add more sugar to cover the bitterness. lol
