This is a photograph that I took a couple of years ago. Smoke from forest fires helped to create many dramatic sunrises and sunsets that summer. This image of the courthouse where I spend so much time is still my most frequently used desktop wallpaper.
Extraordinary... and very beautiful. I'm always loathe to see the sunsets and rises and thunderheads... such as those things... begin to fade and "dowdy" out.... their ephemeral beauty makes for a bittersweet viewing.. but I never miss one, if I can help it! lol I remember once, climbing tall old Pilot's Butte in WY at just before sunset, racing across it's rough, shadowed surface, to get to the Western edge in time to see the spectacular red sunset from there.... missed it. lmao Getting back across and down the ledges was a risky proposition... flushed a HUGE owl, though..
