Good question, hon. I've had friends on both sides. Imagine your mom and dad on the outs ,but still living in the same house. As a child, how weird would it be to have your dad at home on a Friday night while your mom goes out on a date? Don't think so.
On the other hand, the kids have a mom and dad who obviously can't stand one another, and the children feel the tension.Mom's not living at home, but when she's around, you know there's no love loss between the parents.
The first couple are at least mature enough to remain friends, possibly for the children.
Either way, the kids are the ones to suffer. Now and in the long run.

How about we start with attempts to tolerate each other?
When that fails, find a solution respectable to everyone involved?
Then, whoever lives where or with who is a bit irrelevant.  People work out their differences, working through problems.  Whether or not mom or dad dates has nothing to do with their abilities to be a parent and encourage their co-parent-counterpart to do the same.  Then the addition of mommy's boyfriend or daddy's girlfriend doesn't matter so much.  Well, in theory.  Boyfriends and girlfriends always mess up an otherwise workable situation.

Another debate would be should these parents nix their desires?  For the sake ot the children?  To not date, etc????

Thats hard to say. For me divorce was, is and never will be an option. We work thru the hard spots and make things work out. Divorce is the easy way out, and its getting used more and more because it is so easy. The kids should play a huge part in this disision. I know I make alot of enemies about this, but if your careful the first time and get married for all the right reasons you won't be looking for a way out later in life. I have been married to the same woman for 28 years and have never been happier. My daughter is off to college and now we have more time to be together and catch up on what we have missed going to school sports and functions. There has been some rough spots and thank God we didn't do anything foolish, But all that hard work is paying off now as we go into our silver years. The Kids deserve a mom and a dad under one roof even after they leave home.
