The Last Alarm On September 11, 2001 thousands of firemen answered the call for help at the World Trade Centers. They had no idea that for many of them this would be The Last Alarm. On that day the American Dream seemed more like a nightmare as terrorists managed to do something that two World Wars were not able to do. They brought America to a standstill. Flights stopped, our government closed, and millions of Americans and people worldwide watched as the terror came into our back yard. Caught in this horror were New York City's bravest and finest. These men and women were not just doing their jobs, they were responding to a call from the heart and soul. The call for help. Firefighting is not WHAT they do, it is WHO they are. Without regard for their own safety, they rushed into HELL to save others. And because of this deep-seated drive, this desire to help, they lost their lives. They answered The Last Alarm. These men would not have had it any other way. They died doing what they loved and lived for. Their passing in The Line of Duty was the culmination of a Life of Dedication. We must remember Septemeber 11, 2001 and the days and the horrors that followed for our children's sake. Our children will study the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacks as we studied Pearl Harbor and our personal accounts and feelings will help them. Also, by remembering and recording our views, we are keeping the memories of the fallen Heroes alive. ~SweetKissez~ the granddaughter, daughter, sister and friend of many Heroes, those that have served and fallen, and those that continue to serve.
