I am furious right now. I was called for jury duty and brought all of my medical paper work and my child's birth certificate to try to be dismissed without having to sit for hours. In addition to my entire left side have RSD, I also have lupus and spondylolisthesis which is a spinal deformity that causes pressure on the spinal cord and lots of pain. So I can't sit or stand for prolonged periods. Anyway, I approached the man who seemed to be in charge and he treated me with such disrespect and disdain, I was stunned. Because he was ignorant about RSD, he decided there was no such thing. He refused to even acknowledge my medical papers. I am fortunate enough not to need a cane or other intervention to walk, so just looking at me - you'd think I was fine. He said, with a wave of his hand in my face, "You're fine. You're too young for this," and that was that. I had to get all the way into a courtroom and speak to the judge before I got near a decent, respectful answer. Of course the judge let me go. We have to be certain that RSD is recognized by court systems so that if one is truly unable to serve, we aren't treated like liars or scammers. I intend to write to the RSDSA and other groups to let them know that there is discrimination and lack of education about RSD. I hope all is well.

Beck

You can add just about everyone to this list. I was so upset and depressed about the pain/lack of help that I went to seek "Crisis" Counseling Because I was at the end of my rope.
The Psychiatrist I saw said that he knew what it was (RSD)
and his biggest focus was that perhaps I should get a job to keep my mind off of the pain!!! also, upon returning to a therapist a week later there, he said that we needed a "treatment plan" of what I was hoping to accomplish there, but just stating that I needed help dealing with the pain and support in dealing with the fact that virtually no one knew how to treat this disease, well, that wasn't accepted as a reason I needed help!!??? If I could "will" the pain away, I wouldn't need to be talking with theses people!! I showed him on the "mcgill pain index" that RSD was the most painful Chronic disease, and again the "mind over matter" thing came up. I then asked him if, I came in here stating that I was in horrible pain from cancer (less painful than RSD) the everyone from the medical community, to lawyers, to friends would be bending over backward to help me, because it was understood. he asked me how that related to me, I don't have Cancer. I'm still speechless. Have a pain lessened day, Kurt

Yes it is law that we are too answer the call of jury duty.. People do not know that they will not be accepted into duty if they are opinionated. I was soo angry at drs. with that treatment,, I read that form that they send out calling too duty,,, I wrote across the form,,, In RED MARKER,,,  very very opionated !!!   mailed it back in.. And did not hear anything more about it.  So  if that happens again. I certainly will do that one again!!!!!! Remember,, they are people also...  When I fell last month,, It hurt soo bad,, that I bit down,,, breaking off   4 teeth,,, two of which is in front.. Pain is soo severe that There is no way at all,,, non ,,,, that I could set in chair for any hour or two.. Ouch ouch!!!!!!!!! So take care of self,,, n  doo all that U can ,,, n keep us  informed .. Huggzzzzz!!!!!!!!    Annie
