Hi kunzite2,
I have been trying to post a reply for days now and my computer is fighting me. Sorry no one has answered you yet. My name is Tami and my husband has RSD and severe muscle spasms. The only things that help him are his meds and limiting what he does. You probably notice the muscle spasms more when you are more active. Unfortunatly it is the nature of the beast and will not get better. You can how ever controle some of it. I don't know what your doctor is giving you to help with the spasms but if it isn't working very well then you should talk to them about somthing different. If you aren't on anything to help with muscle spasms then you can ask for something. If you want to try to control it naturally (no meds) you can try meditation techniques. Also the bio-feedback is a good tool to help with meditation. Ask your doctor about it. You should also remember your limitations and don't over due things. When you start feeling tired in the areas that are affected you should stop. Don't try to keep pushing yourself because you think you should be able to still do all the things you use to. I am not saying to quit doing everything but take things slower and watch your bodies signals.
How old are you? How much activity are you into. What is your day like? Where exactly are you affected with RSD? The type of activity you do on a regular basis might have something to do with it too.
One of the members here will sometimes go to a heated pool to help him. You should ask your doc about that too. The temprature has to be set at a tolerable temp for RSD. I don't remember what the temp should be but I will try to find out again. Too hot or too cold will aggrevate your RSD. Keep checking the boards as others will probably reply soon. Introduce yourself and a little about your situation on the RSD Intro link on the left of the boards so that others know who they are talking to and what help they can offer.
I hope to see you post more and to get to know you.
Tami
