Hello! I am not new to the group but i am still learning about how to reply and post comments and all of that stuff.  Most of the time I just read all of the wonderful information and soak it up!!! I am not sure what Biofeedback is though! Could somebody please elaborate? Thanks

Hi Charmed,
We are so glad to see you are still with us. I have not yet experienced the biofeedback but if I understand it correctly, It is a harmless proceedure of wire electrodes on your head and chest to monitor your bodies responces to certain imigery or sounds to help teach you what triggers your high stress and anxioties and to help you learn how to control your reactions and maintain a lower level and become relaxed. Kinda like teaching your body to concentrate and meditate to be in a more relaxed state through high pain and stress days. I have heard it is a wonderful tool for you and works really well. I probably am not explaining it well enough and others here can give more detail. I think there is a link on the board about it. Look on the general board. You may have to go back a week or two.
Hope to see more of you on here.

Actually Tami explained Bio Feedback pretty well, I have been thru a learning session with bio feedback. Tami is right, they hook up sensors around different points on your body that read when your body muscles tighten up or your stress level goes up. During a feedback test the testor will usually ask you a couple of things(usually bout w/c...lol) that the testor knows will turn up your stress, then they show you what it looks loke on the feedback machine...it measures small voltages, the higher the voltage the higher the pain or stress causing pain. Then the testor will give you some ideas of relaxing and then you get to see how low your voltage readings are when you are not stressed or angry and you will notice a difference in the pain. Mainly bio feedback teaches you to know what turns you up and what brings your pain level down and those are pretty good tools to have in your box of pain relief :) Bio feedback is fun, not painfull at all...completely painless and you will learn how to turn the pain down by your self...I recomend it to everyone..Learn how to really relax!

Hi, Sounds like this Bio Feedback is something that would be helpful to me...for sure! How does one go about finding where to have this procedure done? It's never been mentioned to me at the Pain Management I go to.

Frank... Another thing that I wanted to get your opinion on.
I just received a letter from my lawyer advising me about a pretrial trial conference with the administrative law judge. He said "As you will have little or no input into these proceedings, it will not be necessary for you to attend this PTC"... Would you think it is in my best interest to go... or not? I hate having to keep asking for help, but I know nothing about this wc/ lawyer stuff. I really appreciate any and all the help I get here.

Thanks so much, and God bless all of us!

I do'nt know much about biofeedback my friend uses it though. BUt about the pretrial stuff I do'nt think I would be comfortable not being there. I want to know what is going on all the time especially when it concerns my treatment/proceedings/condition and all that stuff for the rest of my life. I realize that my atty acts on my behalf but still......

I'd want to be there for sure. I was not absent for any part of my proceedings at all. I also do not remember anything about a pre-trial conference. I had oodles of paperwork to fill out prior to seeing the administrative law judge and was awarded disability on the spot. But still I would expect it to be in my best interests to be there. I could be wrong though.

Maybe the others know more than me, it's been a long long time for me and things may have changed.

Hugz, Normalee

Hi Ladojo,
Well, if the pre trial confrence is a settlement confrence I would definitly go. I went to all of those hearings tho, pre trial confrences, settlement confrences ect. I went because so many things go on behind your back you will never hear about...I vote go! But , you may not have to if it isnt for settlement reasons.
No body is more disgusted than a workmans comp system to me, I dont trust anything they do and I dont recomend anybody trusting them. Work comp does not care about you....just the numbers, and they want to keep as much as possible. Hate to say it but most w/c lawyers work for the insurance company too...who pays them in the end? Thats right, the comp insurance company does! It hard to find an honest lawyer who actually cares about their clients, you are just a dollar amount to you as well...most of them, not all tho
Dont be afraid to ask your lawyer questions, that is why he is getting part of your settlement. And another thing, dont take their first offer. If the insurance company says they have a specialist who will find you a job is another scam the insurers use. Whe it came time for me to see that guy he found 10 jobs he said I could do even theo my Dr made it very clear I could not usr my arms any more at all, one of the jobs was at a local parts store(because I was a Ford Tech all of my life) Well, I haddnt been on that part of town for a long time, just to find out that the parts store had been closed for 5 years! My lawyer had fun in court with that work specialist when he ask him how I was supposed to go to work at a place that didnt excist. I checked ot the 9 other jobs he said he found for me and he actually only contacted about 1/2 of them and he lied to them as to my severely crippled RSD arms....a couple of the places were aftrad to even talk to me when I told them I had RSD in my arms and working with them will just agrivate the problem. Personally, I wouldnt miss anything! I didnt and I gave them back as much as they give me!

Hello, welcome to the group, I had some of the same questions for a while and if you take the time to look over the previous posts and search around you'll find TONS of info on BioFeedback...Good luck!

Possibly in the future we can get some links into the daily newsletter email that goes out or the daily emails as a part of our group info etc as it seems to be the most common question lately...

Hi Phil,
Its good to see you on here. I think you're right. We probably should put a link on here about the bio-feedback and we welcome any other suggestions you might have to help the group. I am not very computer savy but I am working on a few changes for the group and the boards. I don't have a lot of time to work on them so it is kinda slow and I will add this suggestion to my list because I believe it would be very helpful. If you have any links or information to add on the subject please email it to me.

Thanks so much for the idea!
Tami
