{Hi Norma,,,,, O hon,,, Sorry that u have to be in cast thru this heat... Grrrrrrr,,,, I know that is not want anyone would want to cope with neither.. Glad is started healing that is good thing.. One thing be prepared,,, Get some Vitamin E oil... And getting it down on the leg too keep the scratching n itching from happening to much Get started with it ASAP. I know that happens alot with the cast. Well finding that stops alot of that misery. Hope that u try it. Getting started with that also cuts down the severity of the itching and not able too get too it too itch n scratch it feeling. This move cost me alot!!!!! And having to deal with the adjuster n insurance n seeing another new dr. And more tests. Conference then with another dr who is surgeon. Wondering what the drs are expecting to find. Something is up ,,, It starting to hurt when I walk now,,, and also walking with a limp. Strange but is happening. O well.. I am enjoying the new place alot. Space n room!!! Not closed in at all.. Tho it gets upsetting that the places all have to be done in white. Why white??? Gets mighty old. At least is not brown like the place that I come out of!!! How many times have you had to move dear? This is getting old. I hope you are finally settled.
For your white, there is ways around it that wont be permanent if your landlord allows you to do it. You can use fabric or repositionable paper on walls to make it nicer for you. White is just too hospital like and that gets irritating. The repositional paper is super nice because you just stick it up and you can change it when you like, is so easy. I did that in my rooms at the assisted living center to make it more like home. My staff people helped me. I also used large wall hangings on a couple walls in my bedroom. and that took away the white walls.
My best friend had a full leg cast and she knitted a long rope or string then threaded it through the cast and knotted it so when the leg started to itch all she did was spin the string around through the cast where ever it itched and she just left it in there. That way nothing was put down inside the cast to cause odors or anything. She was in her cast for 18 weeks and loved the string. She made it about 3/4 inch diameter and tied a few knots in it so the knots acted to soothe the itching. Because she didnt put anything down it she didnt have to have the cast redone at any time which was good because she lived so far from the orthopedist and she couldnt drive herself and would have had to pay a taxi for over a 100 miles.
I get really busy with my own groups I manage that I dont get alot of time to get over here, and then end of last week we had terrible storms and a big old maple tree fell through my kitchen roof taking out my roof and my electricity. That was something else! I have a generator for the important systems but the computer is not one of those. I finally got to a phone at 2:00 a.m. in the morning when my daughter got home from work so I called my friend to let her know I was out of commission and she was joking about how now I had a skylight, (she just moved back into her house after a home fire) but I thought it was a great idea, so yesterday the contractor came out and looked at the damages and I am going to have a skylight put in! It is going to be nice to have all that light in the kitchen. So her joking turned out to be a real great idea. She tries so hard to have a good attitude and look for blessings in bad things. I am still trying to learn that, I am not so good though.
Take care and see what ideas you can come up with to get rid of the hospital white, it will help you alot with the pain levels. If you are hurting more when you walk dont be so darn proud and use whatever you need to use to get mobile. You cant be stuck going nowhere, that gets to your self worth. You need to get outside!

Hi there Norma... So good too read your post.. You would not want too believe how many times moving this past yr. Honestly is been now been 5 times.. in one yr!!!! due to my brothers attitude.. The first time guess that no count is the other 4 times!!!!! He thot that he was going too force me into a trailer that would not work.. As he found out does not work for his kids neither!!!!! man what expensive lesson he learned on that!!!! O well... Hey thanks for ideas on the white walls,,,, did not mention the white floors also. heheheee they like them white!!!!!!! Gross... why not other colors that are lite???????? My friend done something like that with the vitamin E oil after changing the cast.. She sure did like that oil... And dr was surprised that the skin did not take on that dry funny look after being in a cast that long neither!!!!!! That is really really funny about the skylite!!! Neat idea tho... really neat one!!! Cute also!!!!!! Uhhhh about being homebound most of time,,,, is mostly do to the spasms n what it does too me n my body... it not funn,,,, drs are working now on rite track too get me doing alot better now!!!!! that is what me is happy about.. Really happy about... but with the incontence is been really hard one... Hopefully here soon will have a vehicle and getting out more... That will be super great!!!!
