My name is Chris (I have posted here before). I mentioned that I had my 5th scs in Feb 08. That scs was only giving me stimulation on the sides of my body and I do not need it their. I need it in my legs and lower back. Well, in the mean time, my Doctor felt a new stimulator by Boston Scientific and replacement of leads would give me the stimulation I needed. So came my 6th scs and surgery on May  30th. I spent the night in the hospital. They made me get up and move all on my own. Like I never had my back cut. Of course again, stimulation was in my stomach. Stimulation in my stomach organs feels so uncomfortable and hurts when stimulated. So come June 3rd, surgery to inplant the battery. Know comes my problem. When they did an xray of my back before planting the battery, MY LEADS HAD MOVED! Cut my back again and planted the battery. The stimulation was still in my stomach! If thats not bad enough... I beleive my RSD has gone to my back from the lumbar up to the cervical. It feels like my back is broken, it hurts so bad i could cry. I can't wear a bra or have anything touching my back. I can't stand but for 30 seconds. Walking is very limited and most of all sitting. I have to carry pillows so I can sit on my chairs.
I went for a follow up visit with my doctor 9 days ago. Took xrays of my back (that was hell for me) and I am still waiting for the results. I am on muscle relaxers (only helps for 90 minutes) and vicodine (helps for an hour) Can anybody relate to this? I can't live with my back like this!
Thank you for listening......Chris

I can't relate to your exact story but, I am supposed to get the scs trial done in the future.... Hearing your horror story has got me alittle skeptical.  Where originally was your rsd?

i can however relate to your back pain and the standing... I have Rsd in my left foot/leg/left buttucks and I believe my lower back on days... but, my back is always hurting me.... I just assumed it was cause of how I walk.

I'm hoping that they can get your scs straightened out so you can get some relief.  Did it ever help you?  You mentioned you were on your 6th one?... that 's alot of scs.

Dear Michelle,

Thanks for your responce. Please do not think this might ever happen to you. I beleive its because of me having 6 scs since september of 01. The last four has helped very much. But they would never last long. I like the stimulation on high and I have it on 24/7. I am begining to think my neuorsurgen isn't up to date with RSD.It has been nine days since I had xrays done, I'm still waiting for the office to call me back. Seems like it is not important to him as it is to me.

I hope the stimulator you are getting is from  Boston Scientific and not Medtronics.
BS has a smaller battery.. BS has a wireless remote (that's a plus!).. and most of all the stimulation is softer (not such a strong plus like medtronics.)

My RSD is in my left leg and right thigh. Know I beleive with all these surgeries on my back, that the RSD has gone from my lower back to the shoulder blades.

Good luck with your trial stimulator. Please feel free to contact me, as I should be a pro about stimulator by now!

best of health,
Chris
