I think that Lyrica really works, but it does cost, both at the pharmacy and sometimes in the short term memory department. As far as memory melt-downs, have you considered getting some type of pocket reminder or better yet a PDA like a Palm Pilot? It was my own chronic short term memory problems that finally made me get my first Palm Pilot. I've never regretted it.
Did you know that Palm Pilots (or any other kind of PDA) not only keeps track of your contacts, but also reminds you when you need to make an appointment, take your medications, or what the password is for getting in a web site. With the built in alarms, it even reminds me when I need to call the pharmacy to get my scripts refilled, and it's all so handy.
Forgetting anything can be serious, but so is whatever nerve path health condition problem that you need the meds for. Take the meds, feel better, and get yourself a reminder.
A good thing thing about memory short-comings is that you'll become more organized than you ever have been before. You'll also get into set patterns of doing everything from where you leave your car keys to how you keep your monthly bills up to date. There's always a silver lining, we just have to look for it.
