Hello everyone i am new to this site.  I am a 21 year female who was finally diagnosed in november of '07.  I ended up taking a fall at my old job and wc will only pay for maybe 2,000 dollars of my doctor bills and the bills just keep on coming.  I know that the last time i looked i was over 5,000 and that was what they wouldn't cover.  I have tried to keep my chin up but i am having a hard time doing that.  I realize that there could be worse things in life and i think that the thought of that is what keeps me going.  I have tried many different therapys that have not seem to help they just seem to hinder me.  It is really nice to see that others are in the same position as i am although i wish this upon noone and i wish that you all didn't have to go through this.  Having people around that understand is really great.  I hope you all the best.

Welcome.  I would love to hear about the therapies you have tried.  It is good to know what does not work as well as what does.  Also, it seems to be different for each person and some therapies that have not helped my son (such as nerve blocks or spinal column stimulator) have helped others.  Again, welcome to the group.  Linda

Hi blueyez,
Welcome to our group. There is lots of support here and yes a lot of us have gone through or are going through the wc battle. I highly recommend that you get a wc attorney. Get some background info about them. See if they have ever handled an RSD case before and if they have any knowledge about RSD. That is important. Once you have an wc Attorney you will not have to pay another penny for anything until it is all settled. The attorney can also get any money that you have had to spend reimbursed for you. You almost always have to have legal representation or they will fight you on everything. You will need to do a little financial planning for the near future because once wc decides that you are at maximum medical improvement (MMI) They will stop all benefits and try to settle with you which means you will have no income at all. Get as much help and support from family and friends as you can and don't even bother with anyone who is trying to give you grief. This is a devastating life change and you need support not hassles.
Take your time and look around here a bit. There is lots of information and if you don't see and answers to any questions you might have then please post the question and we will try to find an answer for you.
My name is Tami62 in the group and I am a caregiver to my husband who has RSD. I welcome you to invite any family or friends who are in your support network to this group. It will help them to understand what RSD is and how it will affect your life and theres.
I will talk to you again
Tami

 welcome to our group
If you have any question let us know I'm sure one of us will know the answer.I'm sorry that rsd treatment is becoming such a chanellge one you don't need as rsd is hard enough to deal with.I am lucky I don';t have that issue living in canada comes in handy sometimes.
How long did it take you to finally get told what you had?I ask because it took them 6 years to figure me out because my my age I was 14 when it really started and too many doc have the typical age in mind a women in there 40's  which is so narrow and not true these days that we end up suffering longer than nesscary
take care
and best of luck to you

Hello everyone.  I joined this support group today.  I have been a RSD sufferer for the past 6 years due to a car accident where my sister was driving the car and she accidently ran me over.  Her split second lack of concentration has left me with a disability which will be with me for the rest of my life.  My RSD started in my left leg but in the past year it has spread to my left arm which is causing me major problems.  I have had numerous procedures which have not helped. i am going to try Reiki soon i have been told that it will help the mind which is what i desperately need.  I still cant come to terms with my life as it is now, this condition is a living hell, and my heart goes out to all of you sufferers.  Everyone try and keep your chins up xx

Hello Blueyes,
You were hurt at work, workmans comp is refusing to pay the bills and your lost wages?......I am wondering if you have contacted a workmans comp Lawyer? I am a asst. Manager here and one of the things that I have 17 years experiance in Workmans comp, I know that they are very and intentionally unfair and you cannot fight with them your self...it will just inflame the RSD. Talk to a comp Lawyer, actually talk with 2 or 3 comp Lawyers and ask a lot of questions like"are you familiar with RSD" Will you fight for the best care for me?"Are you willing to fight for my rights and just not your percentage of a settlement" Be forward and extremely direct with these interviews. There is so much to know or you will be hung with one of the most expensive injuries you can sustain at work, if it happend at work You have rights and I highly recomend the you get a Lawyer and get them to pay...you wont get a second chance with comp! They tried to throw me away and they took a financial beating in the end! My claims dollar total expensis to the workmans Comp insurance company including their cost to try to get out if paying their legal responsibilities to me was over 7 figures. You are welcome to talk directly with me about this if you so desire.
Franknberrie
PS
Work Comp Lawyer work on a contengency basis, you pay them nothing if they do not win your case for you. In some states you are required to pay their costs for copys and phone calls if they are long distance.
