I use CHI or Matrix with 10 VOL developer if the hair is relaxed. I also use a color additive that I actually buy at Sally's that cancels out the orange and the result you receive are beautiful golden highlights. Most lightners recommend 10 VOL developer for relaxed hair, and anything higher (for relaxed hair) is not recommended. If the hair is still in it's natural state, (and healthy) then you can move more towards the 30 and 40 VOL. Renee' B.

I wouldn't even use lightner on hair that is relaxed. I would use a high lift blond color, 40 vol, up to a level 8, and then tone. |

Depending on stylist, it is ok to lighten relaxed hair. My clientele is mostly African American and I have several clients with beautiful highlights and their hair is exceptionally healthy. Moisture loss is a big issue when it comes to coloring African American hair period when the hair is relaxed, so as long as you practice healthy hair, are using great products for color treated hair, you can't go wrong. Use your best judgement, research the products you decide to use and always keep "healthy hair" on your mind. Renee' B.
