HMMMMM.....
That's a tough question to answer! From experience, the meds my doc prescribes and the way he prescribes them, I don't ever take it as directed and take less for a good reason. I only take it if I "REALLY" need it. Every drug has the potential to become addictive and then you end up having to increase your medication because you start building an immunity to it, hence you have to take more to get the same effect so it really is a catch-22. I've heard plenty of lectures from my doctors on my meds due to the fact that it is a narcotic and it is watched carefully by the College Of Physicians and Surgeons here so they DO watch how docs prescribe it and do it RANDOMLY. Once the Dr. gets a letter from the College that usually is like a direct threat since they could lose their licence if they think they are getting their patients addicted to a drug. Even if it DOES improve your quality of living, that is NOT the issue with the College. The issue is what happens long term and what the drugs do to your body using them long term. The next thing you know, you have lawsuits suing Dr's for liver and kidney failure due to the drugs that they've prescribed, not to mention addiction issues. I think Dr's in the States seem to have a bit more control over how they prescribe drugs than here, though, since our medical system is a bit different than the States. We have to take control of our own pain and realize what really can happen by taking too many drugs that interact with each other, as well. Also, if a Dr. suddenly decides to stop prescribing a medication due to the fact that they think we may be becoming addicted to it, by that time it's too late, and the next thing you know you have to go into rehabilitation to get off the very drugs that they have prescribed to make you feel better.
I personally think that everyone should try a cleanse since it gets rid of alot of toxins in your body from using drugs. Cleanses aren't for everyone and they need to be done carefully, but it sure is a wake up call when we realize just how many toxins are actually in our bodies from using drugs that we think are helping us, so having said that....everything should be done in moderation and you also have to watch for drug interactions, as well.
Since I've personally attempted a few cleanses, I know first hand how nasty it feels getting rid of toxins in your body so expect to feel nasty for a few days but you WILL feel alot better afterwards!
