I am a big fan of the story behind the story of "The Celestine Prophesy".  In my opinion, that is the real miracle story! First the author is turned down by every publisher.   This guy starts selling the book, self-published, out of the trunk of his car.  Then he gets published by a publisher... which is beginning to look like a miracle these days.

KEEP IN MIND THAT NO ONE WOULD PUBLISH THIS BOOK AT FIRST!

What happens next?  "The Celestine Prophesy" becomes the number 1 best selling book in the WORLD between 1996-99!  It was on NY Times best seller list for over 165 weeks breaking publishing industry records!

You might think that is enough...  NOW THERE IS A MOVIE TOO!  Holy cow Fatman.  I bless the Celestine Prophesy and the writer.  I am very grateful for this wonderful story.  Hahahhahah.

Does this author have THE SECRET?

For those of you who have not seen this film, you may want to stop right here.  You can also see this film online at this link:  http://www.jonhs.net/freemovies/secret.htm

BEWARE! There are spoilers coming up!

Most people probably know by now about the book and the movie THE SECRET.  I finally watched this film online now that I have DSL after all these years of dial-up.  What do I think?  I like THE SECRET.  I do have some questions about it.

Basically, THE SECRET is about the law of attraction.  What they teach in the film is what has been taught in many mystery schools.  I have learned this principle many times in different formats.

I have read a lot of reviews good and bad on the film.  Keeping in mind all this commentary, I watched the film.  All the points in my view are covered.

1.  One of the most interesting points brought up in the film, right from the get-go, is discovery. This brings me right to one of my first ponderings on positive nature, suffering, and discovery. The film starts right out with DISTRESS!!!!  The film ends with some REALLY HARD CORE BONE CRUNCHING DISTRESS!

"..Out of my greatest despair was to come my greatest gift."
---Quote from THE SECRET about the author's discovery.

All, or almost all of the authors, gurus, healers and special people in the film all mention a great life challenge that comes prior to their self discovery. They did not sound like the casual tough time either.  Horrible accidents, sickness, homelessness, great despair came first.  Is this an example of suffering as currency?  How does this fit into THE SECRET?

A master was speaking to a group I attended and apparently a regular follower disagreed on the basis that something is impossible.  The master said that this was improper speech.  Everything is possible and what he is saying is special work for the greater good.  "God's work, Buddha's work, Jesus' work..."

2.  The film has the Aladdin story in it.  Apparently the original story has Aladdin rubbing the lamp and the genie comes out and simply says, "Your wish is my command."  THERE IS NO LIMIT IN THE ORIGINAL STORY.  The modern day tale allows for three wishes.

"God and energy... Energy is always becoming. God always was always shall be."

I don't question abundance.  Some people seem to start out by selling one pencil and get 20 more.  Then you see them pondering if they should issue stock or not.  Some people only seem to need a pencil.

When ya got it, ya got it and get more. We always say that in business.  I do think that people need to know what to ask for.  That is often the difficulty.  A person asks for a big trucking house, when what they wish for is really security.  There are two schools of thought here. I was taught that directly focusing on the material outcome is an error.  Focusing on the essence will get a person to the place where they are going the best way.  This way, their vision is open to many opportunities... not just that one house.  I have also been taught to focus on exactly what I am attempting to gain in the world.  Truthfully, I have a strong bent towards essence.

THE SECRET does focus directly on the material.  Houses, money, cars are the focus of much of the film.  Even the idea of dating a whole bunch of women come up.  Why is the focus of the film more on material gain rather than a fulfilling lifestyles?

3.  The most difficult part of embracing the message behind THE SECRET is the process.  They describe the process quite well in three steps.

*  ASK:  Decide what you really want, and ask!  Apparently if you don't know what you really want, that is a way of being afraid to acknowledge what it really is.  Write it, draw it, keep a picture of it!  Do what works for you. "It should be believable to you."

*  BELIEVE (ANSWER in the online edition which did not make sense to me so I looked it up.):  This can be the difficulty.  A person has to have the ability to REALLY STEP OUT INTO THE NEW REALITY!  They have to go right into the vision of having in the asking step.  Spend time every day focusing on this reality and carrying it with you.  Remain positive so that the seed planted can break through the surface...  Express gratitude.  Anyone who has seen the film know that gratitude rocks.  ;-)  "Believe you deserve it."  "I believed in my heart that I was healed."

*  RECEIVE:  Bring yourself into alignment with your dream.  "Thank about it."   That is not a typo.  ;-) Joyfully receive your gifts and express gratitude.  Belief Net has a small write up that mentions sharing too.

http://www.beliefnet.com/features/top10/secret/gallery.html  Ten step process for THE SECRET, on Belief Net.  It is a little different than the film, but a nice simple write up.

Kellog always says something like, "Simple is not easy."  It is one of those simple, simple things.

4.  There is an artist featured in the film.  He is painting women turning away from the viewer and he is advised to paint more receptive people.  It works!  I think this is great, however, I did post before that you can create without keeping the energy as yours.

Weren't you excited when Jewel wanted to know if WE were happy now?

I go zooming down the road screaming songs of addiction, pain, greed and unhappiness.  I did not write them.  Some of them make me remember though.

People do seriously worry about getting over sadness, grief, depression and gloom to find their creativity all dried up.  Don't worry though.  If you can get through all that, and find that detached place the creativity remains.  You can still go to the very depths of the emotion, capture it temporarily, but remain apart from it.  That way you have all of the speed and none of the dangerous reactions.  If it is not yours, or you don't want it, you have to let it go.

I say kewl.  Can I get there from here?

Freedom is great.  Most people have experienced difficulties at some point in their lives.  Travelers can go back and remember that time with precision.  Seers can see it without having to experience it themselves.  Empaths can feel it too and learn to simply experience it without it being themselves.

So you are not stuck with all those sappy poems about butterflies and flowers just 'cause your happy now.

The film makes me question if you can hold that vibration with intensity enough to capture it and still be detached enough to let it completely go?  I am not sure if I am willing to watch a movie without any conflict in it to develop the plot.  ;-)

5.  I do support the statement about standing up what you are for, and not focusing on what you are against.  Mother Theresa was asked to march against war and she responded that she would march for something, not against it.  Marching for peace...  In life, there are times when it seems right to acknowledge someone's pain or distress.  Isn't acknowledging of what you are letting go of part of the process?  How do you acknowledge and yet have the expression to help lift someone out of where they are to where they are trying to go?

This has been my question for a long time.  Ignoring something, rather than acknowledging it, often seems to amplify its affect of attraction.  It is like running a secret program in the background, and not THE SECRET program.  They mention in the film that pushing against the unwanted adds power to it.  Perhaps this is a manner of pushing the attractive force too?

Other practical considerations are for illness.  You have to tell the physician at some point that you are having difficulty with the pain, illness, or give some indication of what your problem is.  At some point, a true expression of difficulty naturally becomes necessary.

"Incurable meets curable from within."  I like it.  But sometimes, you need to meet a little curable on the outside too?

I do have a strangely positive ending.  I was in thought about death the other day.  Sometimes I get this wonder why it is just not my time when I have felt close.  I just don't seem to do it.  With this thought I pulled the chain on the light, there is a huge flash and an electric noise.  I feel intense heat in my hand, but that is all.  In the confusion, at first I thought the light blew out.  The chain was broken though and a little part of it is hanging on the plug going into the socket. I looked for a long few seconds. I realize that the chain I was pulling has fused itself to the electric plug in.  It is snapped in several pieces one of which is in my hand, another on the floor, one on the socket plug and a little left out of where they all should be.  The socket is black.  I pulled what was left of the chain still attached correctly to the light fixture.  The light goes on.  Really, I am not sure what happened but I can tell you, I am not even burned.  Close, but no Evonne cigar.

Please don't try this at home.

As far as THE SECRET goes, let's do it!
