Understanding Psychic Abilities

There are several approaches to learning about psychic abilities. Some come from a religious mind set and others from a more philosophical angle. It depends on the source.

 

Many will agree that psychic abilities are not a gift. They are innate abilities that lie dormant in one's life until which time it is proper to discover more. Hollywood would have you believe that God is responsible and has sent down an angel to bestow this gift upon you because you are chosen or are special in some miraculous way. Many people believe their psychic abilities are gifts, but all human beings are equipped with the ability to perceive with the higher mind. Our society and some cultures simply do not encourage this skill and have lost sight of it through the constraints of religion and government.

 

We all come to the point in our spiritual progression when we begin to experience psychic abilities through our sight (Clairvoyance), empathy (Clairsentience) or hearing (Clairaudience). Sometimes a person will be fooled by the awe of the experience and believe that this level of development is the end of the road in consciousness or the scope of our higher mind. There is much more than seeing. It is easy to think this is the sum total of the psychic experience. It is not. Our psychic perceptions are simply a glimpse of the etheric dimension of our lives. This etheric level of life is real and vital to our existence. Grasping random glimpses of this dimension does not qualify one as a master psychic. Psychic vision is just the beginning.

 

It is a path of development that offers these experiences. Starting off with little inklings of intuition gradually progressing into a fully mastered skill of the etheric. In order to attain full control of these skills, one must be able to touch, taste and hear all that is involved in order to fully understand and be able to properly manipulate the higher levels of energy. Many people first experiencing their psychic abilities will ask, "How do I control this?" or "What can I to change what I see?" This is not easily learned from the standpoint of only looking at the etheric dimension through a window. For example; if your life consisted of living on a train. Never getting off to experience the sights passing along the rails. Our only experience with the eyes, never with tough or smell or sound. If you were to only see life through a train window your experience would surely not be complete. The experience is limited only to what we see through the windows of the train, the rocking of the train, only experiencing the train. Yet you know there is a whole other wolrd outside of the train. But in the train are not able to touch or smell the flowers as you pass by. Eventually one will step off the train of watching and and enter the total perceptive experience. This process of psychic/spiritual development is gradual.

 

It is important to mention that the imagination is a wonderful aspect of human life. The experience of psychic phenomena can leave us hungry for more. It isn't difficult to become an excitement junkie. This hunger for more psychic activity can prompt our imagination to concoct all sorts of illusions. It is very important for a person to avoid becoming fanatical about psychic phenomina. It is essential to maintain balance in one's mind and life while actively developing psychic abilities. Like climbing a mountain one must maintain concentration, balance and stamina in order to reach the goal of stepping up to the highest peak. Through education, balance and moderation anyone can develop psychic abilities without experiencing mental/emotional mishaps.

 

Psychic perception and the study of psychic phenomina can be a wonderfully rewarding and interesting pre-occupation, adding another dimension to our life. This added dimension and depth should be seen as a compliment to your existing life experiences but let it be understood that this is not a substitute or solution to a life unmanaged. Allow your psychic potential enhance your life and you will experience wonderful insights into your personal progression. Psychic phenomena is a tool for all of humanity to use for our collective progression.
