I am REALLY picky about barbeque sauce....I cannot find anything that doesn't have an overkill sugar base to it, I don't want heat (as in jalapenos or other hinky stuff like that).....I want rich, smoke flavoring. I have a jar of this stuff in my pantry (it's a quart size, which is why it hasn't been opened yet) of Blues Hog Barbeque Sauce....ever heard of this stuff? If so, ever tried it? And if so, what did you think? |

I've never heard of Blues Hog. But, I don't have any problem with sweet barbecue sauce, in fact I prefer it. I love the brown sugar-based or honey-based sauces. The local restaurant we go to for barbecue, Harmon's in Cibolo, Texas, uses a honey-based sauce that is to die for. My favorite bottled sauce is Sweet Baby Ray's, and I keep a bottle on hand at all times (never know when you'll have a barbecue emergency). It's very yummy on chicken or beef (haven't tried it on pork yet). |

Wiley I don't know if this one is too sweet for you but it is mild. It is better with chicken and pork but it is ok with beef. I make it all of the time. It's easy to make. When making hamburgers on the pit I use a off the shelf bbq sauce "Stubb's it may be a local thing as it is made in Austin. Mrs. Ludka’s ` Homemade BBQ Sauce ¼ c. Chopped onion; sautéed 1 tb cooking oil or butter ½ c water 2 tb vinegar 1 tb Worcestershire sauce ¼ c lemon juice 2 tb brown sugar 1 bottle Heinz Chill Sauce ½ ts salt ¼ ts paprika Sauté onions in cooking oil or butter. Add remaining Ingredients; cool until thick Good with all meats but especially good with chicken or pork.
