50 years ago today, on 9 October 1958, Pope Pius XII died. He remains a controversial figure over his role in WW II and his alleged failure to sufficiently condemn NAZI atrocities.

watched a documentary called  the rat lines,which was about nazis escaping from europe down to the vatican so they could be shipped out to south america i bet this pope knew all about this,would be interesting to know how many as i only know of 4 or 5 myself,so much for the catholic church.seafire

    Perhaps it did help some natzies.  It also helped many jews and christians till it was shut down by demands from Brazil.

    The jury will always be out on the catholic church and WW2 as it helped all sides. I found it interesting how the youtube video pertained to South America and the problems there in the 70's and 80's. Something I had not considered, was the use of SS types by those governments.
