Ceiling? Or a discard piece from "Skywalker Meets Travolta" _________

Jennifer & I did Paris --
two months in '92.

1 Rue des Ecoles: Le Cardinal where
Roger liked Americans because they had
cash!

not us...
a limp Visa and some coins.

our room didn't have a ceiling

global lantern

it was a paper world
that is all.
it fostered nothing but the suicide of bugs.
you told me that ........ so many times.

i only saw the glow
a lasting filament
geometry of sphere
knew if we would both blow hard
we could make it orbit anywhere.

you would not be convinced.
.......i wish you well............

there are cracks in the ceiling, like
a Fenton poem --
but in Paris all lights are on,
even in early afternoon.

with shades drawn,
we undress -
and caress each other
madly
madly in love
in Paris
somewhere between
the sheets and leaves
of the hibiscus flower
and the glass-stained, mahogany dresser.

of course. the moon.
and the sun. quite eclipsed.
at quiet guard. not a mouse
stirring. but sick at heart.
The glowworm
his uneffectual fire and
the man on the moon
ask their way
to Norwich.

~Connor

Incandescence from a paper globe
succumbs to jealous shadows crept
from corners to smother brilliance
of their cousin,
tricks of physics
the only code of rooms surrendered
to slow darkness as gendarmes below
in fiercer glow stroll city boulevards.
