Hans-
I don't know if you believe in a concept of a God or not, I really am not sure what I believe. But anyway. My Aunt, despite not being from any Indian decent, is a practicing Hindu. Her spiritual guru gives talks on Peace and a lot of other things. She said something onetime that I connected to your "teachings". "It's much harder to reverse the damage [hate/anger] then to never have experienced them to begin with".
I kind of relate that statement to the things you teach, in a way. It's much easier to not eat the PUFAs and Oxidise Cholesterol then to try to reverse the damage done by them by taking antioxidant supplements or other things like that. It's so easy to do the damage, but much harder to reverse it.

Just my thoughts.

Well, it seems like in the USA there is too much focus on theological points (that are usually specious in any case), often for political purposes, in the context of "religion." For me, religion is manifest; what you see is what you are getting. If someone is obnoxious, hypocritical, and has his/her priorities really mixed up, then that is his/her "religion" - the theology is not a major concern to me. It is how you live, not what you tell others that you truly believe.

I do feel that one could argue that there is a connection to biology, in that stress is obviously problematic, though necessary for growth. One could say that while stress may also accompany spiritual growth, it should be kept to a minimum even then. In general, avoiding stressors is the key. If your house in on fire, then stress is probably a good thing - you need to act quickly. However, more than 99.9% of the time, stress is not good, and is an impediment to your spiritual growth, just as it places a burden on your body.
